John CONSTANTINE Is A Real Person And Here Is His Phone Number

Okay, not really. In a clever display of viral marketing, Warner Bros. and NBC have given out a phone number for fans to call and attempt to contact John Constantine. If it goes to voicemail...John teases you with a reference to a dear friend. See who it is after the jump!

That says Master, doesn't it?  I'm getting new ones made!

Today, Warner Bros. and NBC have summoned the power of viral marketing and released a phone number out to the public for fans to call. For this promotion, actor Matt Ryan can actually be heard speaking as John Constantine, and he wants you to know he is not his friend Alec Holland. Want to know where you can reach Mister Holland? Dail the number to find out!

404-248-7182

Alec Holland, of course, was a scientist in the DC Universe who was working on a formula for botanical restoration growth in a secret facility located in the Louisiana swamplands. One day, in a fatal act of sabotage, his lab was bombed--causing an inflamed Holland to run into the murky waters of the swamp to put out the flames eating away his flesh. It is here that the Green, an elemental force connected to all plant life on the planet, decided to make Holland their avatar--their warrior king! Swamp Thing!

Is this a hint that we'll be seeing Swamp Thing this season? Am I just rambling on so I can make this article longer? Tell us what you think below!

Constantine premieres on NBC this fall on October 24th.

Based on the wildly popular comic book series “Hellblazer” from DC Comics, seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine (Matt Ryan, “Criminal Minds”) specializes in giving hell… hell. Armed with a ferocious knowledge of the dark arts and his wickedly naughty wit, he fights the good fight — or at least he did. With his soul already damned to hell, he’s decided to leave his do-gooder life behind, but when demons target Liv (Lucy Griffiths, “True Blood”), the daughter of one of Constantine’s oldest friends, he’s reluctantly thrust back into the fray – and he'll do whatever it takes to save her. Before long, it’s revealed that Liv’s “second sight” — an ability to see the worlds behind our world and predict supernatural occurrences — is a threat to a mysterious new evil that’s rising in the shadows. Now it’s not just Liv who needs protection; the angels are starting to get worried too. So, together, Constantine and Liv must use her power and his skills to travel the country, find the demons that threaten our world and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows… maybe there’s hope for him and his soul after all. The cast also includes Harold Perrineau and Charles Halford. Writer Daniel Cerone (“The Mentalist,” “Dexter”) serves as executive producer with David S. Goyer (“Man of Steel,” “The Dark Knight Rises”). “Constantine” is produced from Bonanza Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The show is based upon characters published by DC Entertainment.

@Indy

It's one hell of a story. I found all the gifs I wanted to use and saved/downloaded them. This I used this site http://toolson.net/GifResizer/Create to crop and resize them to 70x70 (download the newly sized gifs again). This is where it gets kinda tricky. I used this site to split the gifs http://ezgif.com/split. Once they were split, I downloaded each gif as "ZIP" and extracted the gifs that have been split into their own folder. So, for example, with the GIF that shows DiCaprio passing out, I had a folder titled "DiCaprio Pass Out", and that's where the extracted gif files went. You can extract once you click "Download as ZIP", then click on the newly downloaded folder, and in the top right corner it'll say "extract to" and you'll have to chose where you want to extract your files to. Once you've done that, you can go here http://toolson.net/GifAnimation/Create and upload the files that you just obtained from your ZIP file. Upload them in the order that you want the files to appear, make sure the size is set at 70x70, and use the proper gif speed (somewhere between 65-85 ms is most commonly used). It sounds long and confusing, but once you do it once it's really not.

@McGee It's a one time deal thing. Once you call, your number is registered, so the automated message won't play if you call again, unless it's from a different number.

Kind of weird they programmed it liked that, but it's still cool none the less.

I have I think 62 gifs in my current avatar, so it took quite a few hours just to find the gifs, size and crop them, split them, and extract them to their proper folder. Uploading them took an hour or two as well. I'm actually in the process of making another avatar (not right this second, but earlier today).

I've been thinking about making an article for avatars for a while a now but figured nobody would be interested. Would anybody actually be interested in that (I would include screencaps and more elaborate explanations for each step in it)?

I would love to see Swamp Thing. The Swamp Thing and Animal Man were my two favorite titles of the new 52. It would be cool if we saw Buddy Baker as well.

HA! That was clever.

But even better than that, I just used that exact image of Swampy to do a cover up on a friend's arm yesterday. I'd have a pic to show off, but it's not finished.

But in the meantime, here's a cover up I did a couple of months ago.

If done right, Swamp Thing would be good in the series for an episode or two. It might be better if he were kept to a reference in an episode. I am not confident that the character would be treated with the respect and care it deserves. Only Len Wein and Alan Moore seem to have a good grasp of the character.
