A SMALL TOWN PREACHER MYSTERIOUSLY GAINS THE ABILITY TO PERFORM MIRACLES - While in art class, Zed (Angélica Celaya) has a bizarre vision of snakes that lead her and John (Matt Ryan) to a small town where a preacher has mysteriously gained the ability to heal his congregation. Harold Perrineau also stars. Christopher Johnson, David A. Gregory, Juliana Harkavy, Megan West and Patrick Carroll guest star.

Based on the wildly popular comic book series "Hellblazer" from DC Comics, seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine specializes in giving hell... hell. Armed with a ferocious knowledge of the dark arts and his wickedly naughty wit, he fights the good fight - or at least he did. With his soul already damned to hell, he's decided to leave his do-gooder life behind. But when demons target Liv, the daughter of one of Constantine's oldest friends, he's reluctantly thrust back into the fray - and he'll do whatever it takes to save her. Before long, it's revealed that Liv's "second sight," an ability to see the worlds behind our world and predict supernatural occurrences, is a threat to a mysterious new evil that's rising in the shadows. And now it's not just Liv who needs protection; the angels are starting to get worried too. So, together, Constantine and Liv must use her power and his skills to travel the country, find the demons that threaten our world - and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows... maybe there's hope for him and his soul after all.

Man, I really hope this show gets a second season. I'm still heartbroken over it not getting 22 episodes.

This was suppose to be the second episode according to the the show runner on twitter. It got pushed back to introduce Zed.

Yeah, this episode was part of trailers before the series began.

I also just read that Jim Corrigan and Papa Midnite are in the season finale, here's hoping Corrigan becomes the Spectre in that episode.

@yonny616

So, that was it. They could have just introduced Zed on the third episode.

NBC should not cancel Constanstine.

Great episode. Really enjoying the show. Even the episodes are not furthering the season plot, I am still liking the show. How many episodes are they doing? 14 isnt it?

Guys, I wouldn't worry about Constantine being cancelled.

This show gets higher ratings than Hannibal, which is on its third season.

Also, Hannibal has 13 episodes per season.

NBC loves the show and wants to succeed.
As long as the ratings for the remaining episodes
are good, they will definitely bring it back for a second season.

@mgeoff88 - Unfortunately each year Hannibal suffers from the same debate - its the unfortunate thing about network TV. Truth is Constantine's survival is 50/50 at the moment - all people need to do is NOT watch whatever NBC schedule to replace it for the second half of the season - that way it should come back :P 13 episodes is the right idea though. Less filler, increased quality.

@Minty Oh, I didn't know that. I still think Constantine has a strong chance of survival.

To increase the ratings for the show, NBC needs to advertise it more and put it on another night.

Friday nights and TV shows don't mix. Most people go out. Also, not everyone has a DVR.

@mgeoff88 - Yep, the Friday night slot has always put this show at a disadvantage. I always watch it a day or two later. And yeah as @CaptShipwreck points out the fact that this show's reliant on an effects budget increases its cost sadly. I'm still hoping for good news though!

@Minty I was thinking about the fact Constantine costs more money than Hannibal.

You have to consider though, the actors on Hannibal are more well known, which means they probably have much higher salaries compared to the cast of Constantine.
Minty
Minty - 11/29/2014, 10:29 AM
@mgeoff88 - That's a very good point actually. Constantine's covered a lot of its costs with a small main cast - of whom only Perrineau is really recognisable at all. Mads Mikkelsen alone probably costs more than all four of them put together.

Dip again. Where are the Americans when you need them?

Perfect episode, Constantine has been my favorite new show this season. I hope it gets renewed, but I think a major problem is that not many people know about the Hellblazer series. Can't say that NBC isn't doing their part promoting the show, though. I see a lot of buses in NYC that have Constantine ads on them. Maybe people just don't like good storytelling or original programming.

This synopsis sounds like they stole from an episode of Supernatural, but I am not watching this show anymore anyways.

I hope that NBC will do the right thing and bring the show
back for a second season. ON A DIFFERENT NIGHT!!!
