Was 2014 Comic con a Let Down, or One of the Best?

Hello, Fellow CBM Users
I'm back and none of you probably know who i am so let me give a little backstory. About a year ago i did my first article which was an iron man 3 review and after looking that over i decided to work on my writing skills and try again writing articles at a later day and that day has come.

The 2014 Comic Con is pretty much over and while we did get some pretty nice announcments, i have to say this SDCC was pretty disappointing in terms of what people were expecting. I expected WB/DC to announce who the rock was playing and maybe announcing a solo wonder woman movie but all we got was a teaser trailer for BvS:DOJ and wonder woman picture and while both were really good I think its fair to say people were expecting more

Fox pretty much gave us NOTHING AT ALL, no fantastic four, no xmen... there was nothing i think they could have at least released an offical picture of the fantasic four in costume since they've been filming for about 2 months. In hinsight though they did say there would be nothing at comic con so i guess we should have listened and trusted them

Legendary to me was the big winner of the Con with the announcments of which monsters would be in Godzilla 2 and that they were making an orgin story of skull island which is the home island of the MONSTROUS KING KONG!!!(GODZILLA VS KING KONG, ANYONE) Legendary also deserves credit for actually giving us the first true surpise of comic con in some time

Marvel, the one we've been waiting for, were they finally going to give some of those mysterious release dates, how about who's going to play Dr. Strange. What we got was a release date of GOTG 2(July 27), 2017 and teaser footage of A:AOU(which wasn't relased or leaked to the public!!). This was the biggest let down for me, first why announce several release dates 1 WEEK before Comic Con and announce something we already knew was coming. What happened to Dr. Strange announcments. I love Marvel very much but what they released was very dissappointing.

Overall, while this comic con had its fair share of announcments and some surprises i was pretty let down by it, but should I and other nerds really be complaining because 10 years ago everything we did get this year would never be announced back then. We're living in a golden age of Comic Book, Sci-fi, and Fantasy films and I know i feel pretty lucky.

What are your thoughts on this year comic con. comment below and if you read all of this article through I thank you!!

To be honest, even the E3 had more interesting things to show this year, and I'm not into games that much anymore.

Expectations for this thing are off the charts.

The only people who should MAYBE be disappointed are the 6000+ people who lined up at Hall H. Even then, they got plenty of surprises, footage and legendary directors (Mann, Nolan, Miller, Jackson, are you kidding? Wow.) and actors (not even going to list them.) Comic-con wasn't always about movie panels or movie announcements. Not trying to be a snob, I've never gone myself, but again the expectations for it are overblown.

Tomorrow or next week or next month Marvel or DC can issue a press release that millions of people will have access to immediately announcing a new movie or a sequel, just as studios have been announcing sequels and new movies for decades now. And it will be just as surprising and delightful, if not moreso, when Black Panther or Shazam is announced on an arbitrary Thursday at 2:00 pm than it could have been that one day of the year on a Saturday night.

I wanted to see a picture of Lex Luthor.....that would've made my day.....happy to get what they showed us....

WW and BvS Teaser was the highlight this year.......shame no AoU footage was leaked.

IGNITION
Your right, its just that comic con is when you get to impress nerds all over the world and when you make a huge announcement you get media coverage that gets your movie and studio tons of attention and this is the time of the year people expect huge announcements and we really didn't get any and that why some people say legendary won comic con because they actually announced something huge, but i completely understand your reasoning

I am disappointed with Fantastic Four.
They didn't need to show any footage. But showing some concept drawings like Avengers did, or a promo picture like Batman v Superman did would've been enough. Just SOMETHING.

I wasn't disappointed it just wasn't the best. King Kong vs Godzilla? I'd like it but unless Kongs height multiplies by 10 then he doesn't stand a chance.
