The film announcements for the 2012 Kapow! Comic Con have begun and the first big reveal is that Supercrooks director Nacho Vigalondo will be there to talk all about his plans for a big screen adaptation of the comic book series by writer Mark Millar and artist Lenil Yu. Here is the press release in full.

Kapow! is delighted to announce that the white hot, Oscar-nominated director of Supercrooks, Nacho Vigalondo, will be attending their convention in May. Supercrooks is the latest comic-book series from Mark Millar (Kick-Ass, Wanted) and the Spanish director will be interviewed live about the new project on the Total Film stage.

The Spanish director, who’s previous work includes Time-Crimes and Extraterrestrial, will be talking about directing and co-writing the screenplay as well as detailing us on all his future feature plans. Nacho explains, "I visited Kapow! last year to have a look around and enjoy myself, and believe it is the perfect platform to start talking about my plans for the Supercrooks movie. I really love comics, and of course movies, so Kapow! is my idea of a perfect weekend."

Nacho was behind the entertaining Supercrooks comic-book viral which launched earlier this week on Hollywood Reporter, and rapidly spread around the internet – watch it HERE. Supercrooks, co-created and illustrated by Leinil Yu (Superior), and described by Millar as "X-Men meets Ocean’s 11" is about a group of supervillains who head to Europe to pull off a massive heist, figuring that that there are too many superheroes in America these days. Marc Platt, who produced Wanted, is on board to produce with actors yet to be officially attached.

Kapow!, which takes place on 19th & 20th May at the Business Design Centre in Islington brings the US convention experience to the UK. With an unrivalled guest list of over 50 comic-book stars and previews from this summer’s blockbusters plus movie gossip this is one event not to miss.

Tickets for Kapow! are only available in advance and through the website www.kapowcomicconvention.com. Tickets for Kapow! 2011 sold out ahead of the event, so get your tickets now.
