SDCC '11 Preview Night Experience

Jim Lee gave me a Wayne Casino chip, Adam Hughes drew me a sketch, and I talked about Conan with artist David Miller. My experience at Preview Night. Pictures inside.

(Sorry for the quality of the article, I'm doing this at 3am)

As I took my first steps around the floor on preview night, I bumped into Seth Green. The little guy was in a hurry, so I didn't get a chance to talk to him. People were already dressed, slave Leias abound, and celebrities and press were interviewing people.

I was in the DC booth looking for exclusive Wayne Casino chips from DC's Flashpoint. After about 20 minutes of looking and not finding anything I decided to talk to Jim Lee. Mr. Lee was behind a counter talking to other people, so I approached him, shook his hand and felt honored to be in his presence (I like his art). He was playing with some chips in his hand, and I asked where he got it. They guy was nice enough to give them to me. I was so excited I, as a reflex of generosity, hugged him... awkwardly.

Later I met with Adam Hughes and talked about Doctor Who and other stuff and he drew a quick sketch of the Doctor. I continued to walk down Artist's Alley and stopped to talk with David Miller. We talked about, for like 20 minutes, about Conan and other fantasy stories and he showed me a couple of his sketches.

After all that, as I was leaving I cross paths with Lou "Mr. Hulk" Ferrigno. I went to him, shook his hand, and left with a sense of satisfaction and greater expectations of the next days. So this is just a quick summary of what happened. I'll have more pictures in the upcoming days. Overall, great day.

Thanks to my buddy Alex for the pics.

Lou is a great guy. Met him at Wizard World Chicago in 2006. Took some pics, got a couple autos and spent a few minutes talking. Wonderful experience.

@Robin - Yeah, you do have to repeat some things when talking to him. A little annoying but worth it. LOL
