It was only a few days ago that we learned Robert Downey Jr. took himself out of contention to play the lead role of Zeke Jackson in the Dreamworks' film
Cowboys & Aliens. For those not familiar with the graphic novel (written by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg), the premise is this: An extraterrestrial species lands in Arizona in the mid-1800s. The aliens plan to dominate the Wild West and enslave humanity, but the local cowboys and native Apache fight back.
Collider has just revealed that Daniel Craig, star of the latest James Bond films, is in negotiations to portray the same role. The movie will be directed by Jon Favreau and is currently slated for a 2011 release.
The script was a collaboration between Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek), and Damon Lindelof (Lost).

MPP - We all know how long 'negotiations' can take, especially with an A-list star. I just hope that the studio gives Craig whatever he's asking for. This movie seems right up his alley and it will need a popular actor to gain general audience attention. I also think this movie would definitely look good in 3-D.
