That CYBORG Solo Movie Is Reportedly Still Happening And It's Going To Be...An Origin Story?!

Ray Fisher's Cyborg was certainly pretty memorable in Justice League but was he good enough to warrant a movie of his own? It recent comments from Joe Morton are to be believed, then that's still the plan!

Cyborg didn't exactly steal the show in Justice League and it's been a long time since we've heard anything solid about plans for the character's solo movie. Ray Fisher and Joe Morton seem to believe it's going to happen, though, and the latter has revealed in a new interview that it's still on the cards.

Asked about the status of the spinoff, the actor who plays Victor's father
Dr. Silas Stone indicated that Cyborg will be an origin story, a strange decision given that we pretty much know that already.

"From what I understand, there will be a Cyborg movie," Morton confirmed. "It will be about him and I, and about the family that he came from, how he becomes the Cyborg, et cetera. But from whence he came, as well." We know that much of the character's origin story ended up on the cutting room floor but do we really need to spend two hours revisiting that when it's been mostly covered.

The most interesting thing here is Morton's mention of "from whence [Cyborg] came." Could that be a reference to the history of the Mother Boxes on Apokolips? That would open the door to the arrival of any number of villains and the hero might even use a Boom Tube to travel there. Honestly, though, that feels like wishful thinking and it still seems hard to believe that Cyborg is ever going to happen.

Was not sold on him in the trailers but was pleasantly surprised with his performance in the movie. Needs an image change, maybe more practical, but would be much more interested to see a movie about him tackling ground level problems set a year or two after Justice League.

@140GrimeKid - Totally. My sentiments exactly. I actually thought he came out one of the better performers.

Yeah me too, he really surprised me, lookin at the trailer atc... he seemed quite boring, but he actually brought some balance in the movie, i liked every character tbh...Well almost...
Flash was ok, but only for a first movie, he needs character development ASAP, he can't be a comic relief, cause his humour sucks.

I thought he was OK in Justice League. Doubt this movie will happen though. And if it does, we really don't need to see his origin again.

No member of this League even deserves another movie. Except WW and maybe Superman.

DCEU plans;
1. Introduce Cyborg
2. Explain his backstory in BvS and expand on it in Justice League
3. Set-up a future movie where Cyborg is slowly losing his humanity potentially involving him turning into a Braniac style villain
4. Throw all of that away to do a prequel explaining the stuff we've already seen

WTH DCEU?

I was actually interested in seeing what the technology would make Cyborg evolve into - instead you give us a prequel? Why? You even set-up the concept of a sequel and then you just abandon it to do a prequel on the stuff we've already seen.

@Scarilian - If a Cyborg 'origin story' is the route they go than WB is dumber than I had thought. JL was basically his origin story. His father even says in JL, and I'm bigtime paraphrasing, that 'he (cyborg) needs to get out of the house, stop hiding'. He doesn't even know how to control his new form so unless the Cyborg film is about his life up to the point he bonds with the mother box then it wouldn't make any sense and be boring AF!

Oh you mean like what they should have done in the first place!?!?! Did anyone over there ever take Storytelling 101? Did they all catch whatever Snyder had?

Lol the fact that a cyborg movie is even in development but Man of Steel 2 is totally forgotten is amazing

I actually enjoyed JL...didnt say it was good, but enjoyed it. With that said... Cyborg was a joke and a waste to me. What a lame ass character. Maybe he was poorly written idk, but god damn do i wish MM or GL was in there instead of him. Now...does anyone actually want a Cyborg solo movie?? Probably not...but because of that, we will get one we all deserve

SuperManes
SuperManes - 1/12/2018, 7:05 AM
@MotherGooseUPus - Agreed. Outside of Teen Titans, Cyborg was always a lame ass character to me. IF they had used MM or GL than an origin story at this point in time would make perfect sense. But we've essentially seen Cyborgs origin and it wouldn't make any sense in this timeline to have him suddenly fighting villains pre-JL when during the events of that film he didn't even know how to use his 'powers'.
