Fox Allowing DAREDEVIL's Return To Marvel/Disney

Following discouraging tweets from potential director Joe Carnahan, recent reports seemingly confirm that Fox is letting go of their Daredevil reboot, allowing the character's rights to revert!

Despite nearly two months remaining before Matt Murdock officially comes home, Deadline is reporting that 20th Century Fox is finally pulling the plug on their Daredevil reboot. Assumed earlier today when Joe Carnahan tweeted that his “retro, red-suited, Serpico-styled superhero” pitch “went up in smoke,” the site claims:

“From what I’m hearing, that means that Fox is prepared to see the rights to that character revert back to Marvel Studios, and fall under the Disney umbrella. Marvel essentially said no to an extension and to Fox’s request that it come aboard as cofinancier of the Daredevil film.”

As the site points out, Joe Carnahan could still helm the reboot, but it'd be up to Marvel Studios and Disney. And more than likely, they'll likely want a fresh creative team behind the character's next outing.

When things officially fall through, we can expect Marvel Studios to somehow include The Man Without Fear in their expanding cinematic universe. Whether that is via his own much-needed solo film, a television series, or perhaps a team-up movie is unknown. Although, considering Marvel Studios has a long slate of films already planned, there's no telling when plans for Daredevil will be set in motion. What do you think?

I wouldnt mind seein a DD tv series, so long as Marvel Studios has a handle on it and Disney doesnt poke their noses into it much and holding back on some of the seriousness needed for this character.

It will be cool if after the big expansion into the cosmic universe, Marvel goes the opposite direction and has a few films about street level characters like DD and Luke Cage. They could put them together in a Marvel Knights movie. It might look a bit like an Avengers rip but could be sweeeet

Today has been very strange — but we have been rewarded with this news. Quite surreal, actually. We've been led to believe that these studios would never give up these character — turning to straight-to-DVD before giving up. Glad 20th Century Fox gave up — they would want to tarnish their goal for "quality films post-Avatar". Fantastic Four next!.

Is it weird that I want to see every Marvel hero to be in Avenger movies? Like bring on a Daredevil solo movie and put him in the next Avengers Sequel and somehow work out with Sony so Spider-Man joins too. The more the better.

I know Spider-Man isnt an original member of the Avengers, but they reinvent it anyways so it doesnt matter if he wasnt a founding member of the Avengers or not.

This is great, though I wished it was FF coming back. Great nonetheless.

SN: Where are all the pricks that said that FOX would NEVER let any of their Marvel movies revert?lol

what happened with the main page?

On the Daredevil thing. The rights being reverted back to Marvel may be a bad thing disguised as a good thing. Depends how you look at it. Sure it's great that Marvel has one of there characters back but I just can't see how they are gonna fit Daredevil into the MCU. This may mean that we won't see a Daredevil film for maybe five or six years.

So if that happens, only Ghost Rider left(which shouldn't take too long) for the antiheroes to get back home

Alighty, now we can start seeing some street level heroes!

Maybe the Carnahan guy can come on over to Marvel Studios and make a few deals with them.

Way to go FUX corp.

= No Daredevil Movie, no Galactus and Silver Surfer in GOTG. Everyone loses, FUX gets to show everyone how greedy and bitter they are.

Oh well, now Joss & Marvel can put DD on TV in a "Marvel Knights" series, along with Iron Fist, Blade, Punisher and Spiderman (I can dream, right?)

Yeah I'm sure the rights will revert, but Deadline are just sticking their oar in, what "they hear" is the same thing we have all already assumed.
