Unlike the previous two Deadpool films, we haven't seen much from the set of Shawn Levy's Deadpool 3... until now, that is, as a handful of set photos have finally surfaced, offering our first look at Ryan Reynolds suited up in full costume as the titular Merc with a Mouth for the upcoming Marvel Studios blockbuster.

While the photos don't offer any real details about the film's multiversal plot, which will also prominently feature Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, it does essentially confirm that Wade Wilson will be keeping his traditional red-and-black threads, although there are a few small alterations and the suit does seem to be a slightly brighter shade of red than before.

In addition to Reynolds and Jackman, the supporting cast consists of Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa Carlysle), Stefan Kapičić (Piotr Rasputin/Colossus), Rob Delaney (Peter W.), Brianna Hildebrand (Eloise Phimister/Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen.

Several former X-Men cast members and a handful of MCU veterans have also been rumored to appear in various capacities, but nothing definitive on those fronts yet, so we'll just let the rumor mill keep churning.

Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, 2024; but that's subject to change with the ongoing WGA strike and the possible SAG-AFTRA strike.

@imnotwearinghockeypants -

What?

It's the same suit💁

The side by side comparison is one is from the finished film and the other is behind the scene pic🤡

Do you even think before you type?

@AmazingFILMporg - You need to get your eyes checked. The stitching and color patterns are much different. Even the belts on his thighs are slightly different and not in the same position.

@AmazingFILMporg - Even the emblem on the center of his belt is different in each photo.

New suit looks great! Not too different but just different enough.

Now here’s to hoping we hold off on the comic accurate suit for Wolverine. Would be a shame to give it to Hugh in the 11th hour just to usher in the real MCU Wolvie.

@Tonic24k - Yeah, I mean, this is not really about Deadpool crossing over with Wolverine, but about him crossing over with whoever Hugh Jackman was playing.

@Tonic24k - Yeah, I am really liking the texture of the suit better, but it is hard to tell whats really happening with it in those pictures. To me it looks a lot less like leather and more like a fabric, which I like.

I’m seeing people complain about the new lines on the chest/new suit altogether. They do realize his suit from the first two movies pretty much got destroyed at the end of DP2, right? Wasn’t it burned up and gray by the end of that movie?

So he has an in-universe reason to have a slightly upgraded suit.

@santoanderson - ...it was just covered in ash. It was by no stretch destroyed. He even wore it in the post credits scenes.

@santoanderson - Deadpools suit was always getting destroyed, riddled with bullets. But there's no reason for that logic to apply really, in Deadpool of all things.
Tasmaniac

@Origame - …and with the ash became his X-Force suit. Was kinda hoping to see him in it in this one for a bit.
Origame
Origame - 7/6/2023, 12:18 PM
@Tasmaniac - I mean, did you expect him not to wash the suit? Because a) that's a ridiculous thing to expect, b) it's ignoring the end credits where he's wearing the red suit, c) it defeats the purpose of the color (so bad guys can't see him bleed), and d) it never actually became the x force suit and that was just a visual reference to it.
Tasmaniac
Tasmaniac - 7/7/2023, 11:08 AM
@Origame - a) Pretty sure that suit was beyond a wash. b) You’re taking this way too seriously. c) Yeah, because I’m sure that’s the actual reason for the colour. Not that I recall seeing it mentioned in the couple of hundred Deadpool comics that were written before the movie came out. d) No shit it was a visual representation, I still want to see it in DP3. Which leads me back to c) Again, not red for the joke reason in the movie. He wore the grey suit suit for an X-Force run. Did some bleeding.
Origame
Origame - 7/7/2023, 11:26 AM
@Tasmaniac - a) dude, it's just some ash. Why do you think it's beyond washing? Especially when he wore it in the credits scenes. B) why? Do you think the credits scenes didn't happen? C) you can't site the comics for what happens in the movies. They're different continuities. It's explained multiple times wade wears red specifically so the blood doesn't show. That's even how wade met blind al, so you can't just ignore that. D) well the visual representation is why it isn't staying that way for Deadpool 3. It's not a fault of the film you decided ash on the suit meant he should get a Grey suit.

Can we apply that red to a live action Daredevil suit? I think its worth a try.

That being said, the suit he will have in that Spidey Freshman Year animated series is COLD. I like how its basically The Man in Black fit but with the traditional DD mask and red lines. I would kill to see this in live action.

New suit looks awesome. Now cannot wait to see Jackman in his comic accurate Wolverine suit!

Looks good. Not too different..

What we really waiting for is that Wolverine set photo! Hopefully in a comic inspired suite. I'd settle for Ultimate wolverine if we really can't get the mask. But something tells me we're getting a pretty good adaption.

I dig the new suit more, it's more vibrant compared to the old ones.

I'm surprisingly liking these minor updates.

It might sound weird, but when studios bring little to no change to the suit of the next instalment of a particular superhero, it kinda makes me more confident in the quality of the movie. It's like they're not in it for the toys and they know the movie can shine on the merit of its story alone, as silly and naive as that sounds.
Of course, that's not necessarily the case, and the original Deadpool design is already close to perfection, so there might not be much room for improvement.
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 7/6/2023, 12:31 PM
@Fares - Ironically the first two Deadpool films didn't really sell any toys based on the movie.
Fares
Fares - 7/6/2023, 1:55 PM
@SonOfAGif - I suppose the rating had something to do with that? Does that include premium stuff like hot toys or just the merch you find in a local supermarket?
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 7/6/2023, 3:28 PM
@Fares - So merch found in local supermarkets and retail stores are of the comic Deadpool. Movie wise no toys or anything we're really mad. I think maybe some Funko pops were made and maybe a Hottoys figure but not much else.

Of course Marvel would go about making this movie colorful and most likely family friendly oriented.
