DEADPOOL 3: 8 More Comic-Accurate Costumes We NEED To See In The Marvel Studios Threequel

With it now confirmed that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine will don his classic blue and yellow costume in Deadpool 3, we're singling out the other comic-accurate suits this movie needs to bring into the MCU!

Deadpool 3 looks set to take us back to 20th Century Fox's X-Men Universe, and if that first look photo is any indication, these characters are finally going to get comic-accurate costumes.

For years, those boring black leather outfits were a sticking point for many fans so a new approach is welcomed. In all honesty, we'd expected an overhaul like this to be saved for Marvel Studios' eventual X-Men reboot, but it should be a blast seeing this familiar group of mutants join Hugh Jackman's Wolverine by donning costumes that do the source material justice.

In this feature, we're singling out the characters - and not just the X-Men! - we're hoping will get a new look in Deadpool 3. We're sure Jennifer Garner's Elektra will suit up in that iconic red costume, for example, and this movie is a great opportunity for the MCU to do the same with a number of other heroes and villains.

You can take a look through our top picks by clicking on the "Next" button below.

8. Rogue

Rogue-Excalibur-Vol-4-1-copy

Anna Paquin's Rogue was a focal point of the original X-Men movies and even had an entire cut of X-Men: Days of Future Past dedicated to her when it was released on Blu-ray.

Despite being front and centre, the character was sorely underutilized in a lot of ways and we'd love to see the extent of her powers put on full display in Deadpool 3. Accompanying that should be the powerful mutant's classic green and yellow costume, with the style above one we're sure Paquin could pull off even decades after first playing Rogue.

We're sure Kevin Feige would enjoy revisiting the hero's dynamic with her mentor Wolverine here as well, and an X-Men: The Animated Series-inspired costume is a must.

7. Cyclops

XMENSNAP2020001-cov-1-copy

James Marsden always got the short end of the stick as Cyclops, but if Scott Summers is going to return here, then it should be in his own blue and yellow suit.

We'd probably ditch the trunks, but aside from that, it would be beyond awesome to see Marsden wearing this 90s-inspired outfit. From the yellow visor to that completely superfluous belt that runs across his chest, this is a style arguably best suited to a movie like this rather than the eventual X-Men reboot.

There are other, somewhat more contemporary versions of Cyclops' costume which would be a better fit for that, so why not take the chance to give Marsden a suit that ensures he stands out from the crowd as his fan-favourite mutant?

6. Daredevil

maxresdefault-2

Rumour has it Ben Affleck will reprise his role as Daredevil in Deadpool 3 and, following the news of Jennifer Garner's return as Elektra, we'd say that's all but guaranteed at this point.

While not a great movie, Daredevil had at least some redeeming qualities and it would be a really fun moment for Affleck to get a few scenes in a comic-accurate suit. If his recent stint as Batman proves anything, it's that the actor could pull it off, and we think he'd look badass wearing a slightly overhauled version of the 2003 effort.

As for Elektra, all we need is a slightly improved version of the eye-catching costume Garner donned in her spin-off movie. Put them side by side...and well, that could be downright iconic.

5. Magneto

Magneto-feature-copy

It's thought that Magneto will play a significant role in Deadpool 3, though we're unsure whether that means the spotlight is being put on Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, or both (we are talking about the Multiverse after all).

Whatever the case may be, it's about damn time the Master of Magnetism don a truly comic-accurate costume. We've seen versions which have come close and some pretty damn fine efforts, but it's time for the red and purple armour to get the attention it deserves. That's right, we want the true classic Magneto to unleash his powers next summer.

This is a style which wouldn't be that hard to pull off on screen, and both McKellen and Fassbender would look pretty darn formidable in the suit. Fingers crossed, anyway!

4. Human Torch

fantastic-four-human-torch-header-copy

We know what you're thinking: how can you get any more comic-accurate than seeing a guy on fire? That's something both of the previous Fantastic Four franchises did well, but if Chris Evans really is set to reprise his role as Johnny Storm, let's see him in a John Krasinski-inspired super suit.

That was a damn-near perfect design, and one it would be a total blast to see Evans rock when he returns not as Captain America, but the Human Torch.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness never really showed what Reed Richards was capable of (he was almost immediately shredded by the Scarlet Witch), so to see this hero unleashed in a battle with Deadpool and Wolverine would be epic. It would also be a nice way to test out what can be done with Johnny's powers on screen before Marvel Studios' upcoming reboot.

3. Storm

xmen-storm-00332746-copy

Halle Berry did a great job as Storm, but her costumes paled in comparison to what Ororo Munroe has worn on the page over the years.

Pretty much any one of the designs you see above would be incredible to see in Deadpool 3, though we'd likely choose the classic white suit which, once again, will be familiar to fans of X-Men: The Animated Series. That show is clearly one which holds a special place in Kevin Feige's heart and is a style we know Berry would absolutely make work on screen.

As you can see, many of Storm's costumes have been a tad risque, so this is arguably the most realistic route to head down. Honestly, the mind boggles when it comes to how good that would look in live-action, especially alongside the mutant's fellow X-Men once they're suited up.

2. Beast

X-Men-Vol-2-1-Variant-A-copy

We've seen a few iterations of Beast on screen over the years, but none of them have been quite right. That's bound to change courtesy of Marvel Studios, and Kelsey Grammer should absolutely return to lend his voice and likeness to a VFX version of the hero.

That's the only way he can really be done justice, and whether it's based on the cat-like Astonishing X-Men Beast or the one you see above, it would be a jaw-dropping moment to see this character on screen again.

Nicholas Hoult did a fine job as Hank McCoy, but found himself saddled with too much crappy material to ever really sink his teeth into who Beast is. Those prosthetics didn't help matters so Deadpool 3 should absolutely head down the Thanos route with the blue-furred scientist.

1. Jean Grey

Jean-Grey-90s-Phoenix-Resurrection-e1558690545879-copy

Famke Janssen is bound to return as Jean Grey in this movie, and while we know many of you would prefer to see her decked out in the Phoenix's costume, that's a storyline 20th Century Fox dropped the ball on twice. It's time to move on.

Jean has donned all manner of costumes over the years, but based on those we've highlighted throughout this feature, we'd argue the one above should be a priority.

It's a little goofy, yes, but that's part of what makes it so cool. Sticking with that blue and yellow colour scheme (which offers a storyline explanation, of sorts, for Wolverine's new look), we're confident Janssen would look incredible standing tall in this striking costume.

Did you think DareDevil and Jonnny Storm didn’t have a comic accurate costume yet??

@slickrickdesigns - what does that even mean for Johnny? Either you're talking when he's in "flame on" mode, which has been accurate every time, or his fantastic four suit, which is more something to discuss with the whole fantastic four instead of just Johnny.

Also, his example doesn't even make sense because the Krasinski suit is actually less accurate than the story suit (unless you count shade of color, but come on).

@dragon316 - I liked She-Hulk, Thor 3, and Moon Knight. Hell, I even enjoyed Quantumania. The poisonous toads stinking up this website are not representative of the majority of fans. I'm not even sure that they're fans themselves, honestly.

@slickrickdesigns - What a disappointment that this tease didn’t get followed up on in the next movie. Apocalypse wasn’t great, but it did have some of the better action scenes in the series and it seemed like they ended it in a way where the follow up could have been more source accurate.

Please just save the 90's Era Jim Lee costumes for the actual MCU X-Men.

It would be a waste to use them in this one and done role.

Shouldn’t we want to save these comic accurate costumes for the MCU version of the X MEN?? Whenever we get to the mutant saga?

I don't "NEED" comic-accurate costumes. I need good-looking costumes that preferably stand out from one another, or at least costumes that fit the context that the story sets them in. Meaning that, if for example, a costume looks silly, it's because it's supposed to look silly within the story.

So far, I'm not sure what to make of the Wolverine costume. I'm still very much on the fence. Comci-accuracy is neither inherently good, nor inherently bad in my books, and I don't like seeing it advertised as either, but you do you.

The 90’s were one of the worst eras for costumes thanks to Liefeld and his ilk. I would like this for Cyclops

or this.

Whatever costume they give Storm, please for the love of god, don't give her that played-out mohawk. That shit is tired and corny.
