DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Star Ryan Reynolds Confirms Work On The Movie Is Now Completed

With just over five weeks left until Deadpool & Wolverine hit the big screen, star Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that post-production has officially wrapped on Marvel Studios' first R-Rated movie...

It's been six years since Deadpool 2 was released in theaters and a lot has changed since then. For starters, Disney merged with 20th Century Fox, giving Marvel Studios exclusive rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises.

Mutants and the X-Men have slowly started making their way into MCU movies and TV shows, while The Fantastic Four will finally hit the big screen next year.

Back to 2024, though, and Deadpool & Wolverine is set to bring its title characters into the MCU via an unexpected meeting with the Time Variance Authority. While not confirmed in any way, we expect the movie to end with both Wade Wilson and Logan stranded on Earth-616 in anticipation of the upcoming Avengers movies.

Now, with roughly five weeks to go before Deadpool & Wolverine claws its way into multiplexes across the globe, star, writer, and producer Ryan Reynolds has confirmed post-production is done and work on the threequel has been completed.

"And that's all she wrote for post-production," Reynolds wrote on Instagram. "Feels like a million years of work went by in a blink. Sitting next to this guy [director Shawn Levy] made it all so sweet...hard to walk away."

Marvel Studios movies sometimes aren't finished until days before they're playing in theaters. However, with a massive global press tour set to begin later this month/early July, it was likely necessary to make sure Deadpool & Wolverine wrapped in time. This also suggests Levy was given the space needed to deliver the movie he wanted.

While Reynolds acknowledges that it's a project "hard to walk away" from, chances are what's looking like a record-breaking box office run for the movie will almost certainly mean this isn't the last time the Merc with the Mouth shares the screen with Wolverine...

Shawn Levy directs Deadpool & Wolverine, which stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen. The movie is written by Ryan Reynolds & Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Zeb Wells & Shawn Levy.

The trades have confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Wesley Snipes, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Dafne Keen, Channing Tatum, Blake Lively and even singer Taylor Swift among those rumoured to make an appearance.

Kevin Feige, Reynolds, Levy and Lauren Shuler Donner produce with Louis D’Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, Simon Kinberg and Jonathon Komack Martin serving as executive producers.

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters on July 26.

Feels like the summer BO is riding on this. Inside Out 2 is doing really well, but I'm not sure where other standouts are going to come from.

@Itwasme - Twisters could be a Top Gun Maverick style sleeper hit

@ShellHead - I definitely plan on watching it. Recently watched Twister, and I look forward to another disaster movie. And not the weird sci-fi kind like Moonfall

@Itwasme - Bad Boys is doing well too

I can see Despicable Me 4 and Alien:Romulus being successful too (not sure about A Quiet Place)

@Itwasme - Despicable Me 4 should do very well too considering the franchise track record, Joker 2 likely will do well if good, same with Beetlejuice 2 and Mufasa and Moana 2 should do well...

...few others have a strong chance of decent numbers, inc probably Venom 3, but nothing is a given these days

@Apophis71 - I thought he meant just summer but yeah for the rest of the year , I can see those standing out too

Interesting that they are all sequels and such though

@ShellHead - I think it will be good for the studio, but I'm not sure if Twisters will have the gross the theaters would like. Let's hope so.

@Apophis71 - the winter looks pretty stacked. Maybe that's the new norm since people might be using the summers to travel a lot more. Behaviors have changed, but maybe with tweaks like that the theaters can navigate it.

@Itwasme - Why I looked at the full year as seem to be shifting away from summer blockbusters somewhat, not for the first time cos prior to the MCU there seemed to be less blockbuster types in the summer too.

That said there are a bunch during summer I have no clue on how they will do as new IP's, or at least not sequels/prequels and there can always be unexpected surprises with stuff like that and far trickier to predict.

@TheVisionary25 - That is in part cos we have some insight into how well something from an established franchise will do, new IP's are far less predictable.

TheVisionary25 - 6/19/2024, 10:23 AM
@Apophis71 - true but even then I feel the ones you singled out might be the most likely to succeed

A lot of the new IP or original films seem to be going moreso to streaming.

@TheVisionary25 - Feels that way, but then the strikes will have probably been a factor in regard to lack of BIG breakthrough films too.

That has to be the biggest relief, especially after all these years of trying to get a movie with the two of them together get made, never mind yet just getting Hugh Jackman to sign on. But of course, now they have the press tour to look forward to...

@IAmAHoot - that press tour is gonna be legendary!!.

Cool , looking forward to it!!.

I have enjoyed Shawn Levy’s work from what I have seen of it so no doubt I think this will atleast be the same aswell.

The chemistry between Wade & Logan looks real fun but the character I’m most interested in is Cassandra Nova.

I've been rewatching all the fox verse movies recently (except for first class - Dark Phoenix). Wild times lol Dp 1 is still better, but I don't hate the sequel as much anymore

Deadpool 2 had what? Like 5 post credit scenes? I’m imagining how many this one will have. Or a better question, how many cameos he fits into post credit scenes
