Hey guys and gals. Well we have been hearing some more word on the Deadpool film. What we do know about it is that its separate from Borigins, it's being written by the team behind Zombie-land, which was a funny movie, and that Reynolds will still be in the role even though he is Hal Jordan too. The only other big news that we got was a rumor of Robert Rodriguez was offered the directorial task of bringing the immortal assassin to screen, so far nothing has been really announced in terms of that. So if we do not get R.R there is one person who may have the ability to do so, and that man is well*looks up at Headline* Quentin Tarantino.
Most of us know Tarantino for being one of the best indie directors out there. He is giving small budgets and yet is able to turn out great products each time. He too has his hits or misses, whether you love or hate them, they have some essence of coolness to them. Each film he has done never the same as his previous one. By far my favorite one is the recent WWII Epic Inglorious Basterds, it has the best cinematography, music, great dialogue and is a send up to Italian films and mocks the genre of old war films. The main aspects that Tarantino excels in greatly is in music, pop culture, tasteful violence, and awesome dialogue. Most of these aspects are formulaic in Deadpool.
A quick summary of who Deadpool is. Deadpool was a member of the Weapon X program, he was a quiet member dying from a cancerous disease. He was given a variant of Wolverine's healing factor, which worked too well and caused him to become scarred and deranged. He is best known for breaking the fourth wall and actually talk to the person who is reading him, he is one of the only few comic characters who is self-aware. He wields both swords and guns, he also posses a belt that allows him to teleport in short distances. He also has a super fast healing factor yet he is scarred. He has a bunch of comic series and has joined many different teams. I like the character but I feel he is being overused in the recent years, perhaps it is to undo the damage of Borigins.
So now I mentioned both, how can Tarantino make Deadpool awesome when Tarantino is known for small budget fims. Well the main focus will obviously be centering on Deadpool and his crazy interaction with any character or characters he has to interact with. I would like to see when theirs a serious conversation, for Deadpool to blank out and talk to the audience about nothing of any signifance and then go back to listening at the end. If they truly want to make this the real Deadpool, they really need to hammer that aspect of him breaking the 4th wall, whether its a constant or in certain scenes is still a mystery at this point.
In terms of action and violence, Deadpool is the best and craziest Assassin out there, So obviously we need two styles of fighting, first some cool John Woo like gun battles, but with a comedic twist, and Kill Bill style sword fights. If the belt is in the film, having it would be useful and can have some funny moments with it. I don't need to delve into the pop culture aspect because Deadpool will obviously make some funny references, would be funny if he makes Tarantino movie references. Music is however the one aspect that remains to be unkown as a really hazard in terms of the character. Tarantino is best known for using older songs in modern day settings, with the exception of I.B. which had a mixture of song types and ages. If I had to choose, Its most likely that Tarantino would possibly use 70's style music as the soundtrack. Again I can't really say what kind of music they are using, if any.
The one big thing we have no word on at the moment is the villain of the movie, or if any villain out there. I'm sure fans want HYDRA to be in it so we can see BOB, but we may see HYDRA in the Avengers. Its most likely they will create a stock villain for Deadpool to fight and save some of his rouges gallery for any further installments.
If they do further films, Im sure the cool idea would be having him team up with cable, but thats of course unknown at the time. Also in terms of budget, this is most likely gonna be a 100 million film in hopes of making a 300 million dollar B.O.
In closing, If FOX is smart, which is doubtful, and decide to invest in any director for this character, it would be best to have Tarantino bring the character to life, and then have other directors handle the sequels. Not only can Tarantino make great films with small budgets, but he has the tricks of the trade that this character needs to be taken serious and yet still be funny. And with that said, this is Aki87, see you all soon
