ThePlaylist reveals that Robert Rodriguez(Sin City, Predators(producer) has been offered the directors chair for the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine spin off, Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynolds..

Robert Rodriguez has been offered to direct "Deadpool" by 20th Century Fox tipped to us by the latest issue of Production Weekly and confirmed to us by a sources very close to the project. It is something he is considering, but that's it at the moment.

Its been fairly quiet on the Deadpool front for a while. Last we heard the script was being finalized by the Zombieland writing team, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and Ryan Reynolds said he was happy with the direction it was going. Now, if this is true, Rodrieguez may be considering taking the reigns. I'm not his biggest fan, and think that most of the time his movies are all style over substance, but that being said , Deadpool may be right up his alley. Many fans were left disappointed(to say the least) by the Merc With A Mouth's big screen debut in Wolverine, but Reynolds has said that this upcoming solo movie will go a long way to righting a lot of those wrongs. As for Rodrieguez, well, Fox have also recently offered him the Planet Of The Apes reboot on which he passed. Will he follow suit with Deadpool?

This coooulllddd work... not sure.

Based solely on Shoot 'Em Up (which was great and right down this alley), I'd recommend Michael Davis.

It'd be cool, but it's just another road block for getting Sin City 2 done.

Hate Rodriguez, Hate Fox. Winning combination. Do two fails cancel each other out or was that sarcasm?

I like what Miller told Rodriguez to do with Sin City. But for everything else... Rose McGaggin.

Great find ROR!

As with any movie made by Fox, I find it hard to be enthusiastic about Deadpool (especially after what they did to him in X-Men Origins: Wolverine) but I'm still looking forward to it.

Rodriguez's involvement would be HUGE bonus! What wouldnt be is the fact that Marvel would start producing even more Deadpool book each month even though there's already about 10 of 'em, lol!

@ P862010: yeah an idiot....or someone with a God given rite to an opinion lol

I think this will be fine.....I honestly didn't have big hopes on the film anyways. But this should make it more in line with what it should be.

i'm glad there's new DP movie news, no matter what it is. also glad to see it's director news. Sin City was good, I was not the biggest fan of it, but I think he would do a nice job with the Merc with a mouth. Cant wait for this movie. Hopefully FOX doesnt mess it up ::sigh::

@magic8 - Whoa! I'd ask you what's wrong with Sin City, but that's probably like asking the Joker what's wrong with Batman. That answer would be crazy, disturbing, and only conform to a lose, twisted logic.

@ rormachine & everyone else i personally wouldn't mind him doing it,but these are my five favorite choices.

1.matthew vaughn (watch kick ass & see why.)
2.quentin tarantino (he loves comics & loves violence)
3.david fincher (seven & fight club, plus so much more.)
4.robert rodriguez (desparado & sin city.)
5.chris nolan (love to see it,but it would never happen.)

The only RR film I have ever liked was Sin City. The dude hasn't got the first clue about how to pace a film, and he just flings explosions and guns at every set piece with no thought to the plot. But, like I said Deadpool might benefit from such a fractured style.

@Ror - Yeah, he has passing problems, and his action is good, but not great. Can we get John Woo or the Wichkowskies (sp?) to consult on the action? I still think the guy who did Shoot 'Em Up could do it, if that film wasn't a fluke.
