Disney Developing Live-Action ALADDIN Prequel Film

Disney's trend of taking their animated films and turning them into live acton films looks like it won't be stopping soon. In fact it seems to be taking a step further then that.

First we got Maleficent, then we got Cinderella. Now along with other announcements that disney has made over the last few months we now have confirmation via Hollywood Reporter that Disney will be developing a live action prequel to the original 1992 classic Aladdin. The prequel shall be titled Genies. The film is said to be about the realm of Genies and will reveal how Aladdin's Genie ends up enslaved in the lamp.

The film is currently being produced by Trip Vinson, who recently was an excectutive producer on San Andreas and will be producing the upcoming film Prince Charming for the studio as well. While the film will be written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift who together have written both Freddy Vs Jason and the 2009 remake of Friday The 13th.

Although this new Genies project is currently in early devlopment the long term plan is to have this film lead into a Live Action Aladdin movie down the road.
