Yes, it is still early November, but Disney has now released its 2020 Christmas advert, and you might find it hard to feel too cynical about it once you've watched.

The animated short focuses on a Filipino family ("Lola" is the Philippine Kinship term for grandmother) and a vintage Mickey Mouse toy passed down through three generations. With each passing year, the doll comes to symbolize Lola’s childhood and her on-going connection to her granddaughter.

The ad marks the company’s 40-year partnership with children’s charity Make-A-Wish, and features the song "Love is a Compass" from 19-year-old British musician Griff.

“Christmas is a time for giving and giving back, and we’re delighted to debut this festive ad campaign supporting our long-term charity partner Make-A-Wish," said Tasia Filippatos, senior vice president of Disney Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Our goal was to tell a universal story that inspires through the themes of family, love and special holiday traditions. We hope that Disney fans enjoy the short.”

Check out the advert for yourselves below... and keep some tissues at the ready.

The Mickey Mouse toy from the ad is now available to buy online, with money going to Make-A-Wish organisations to help fulfil the wishes of children with critical illnesses.

"Love Is A Compass" will also be available from November 9, with all proceeds donated to Make-A-Wish on every download before December 31.

I feel like the only thing to look forward to this holiday season is getting incredibly, outrageously hammered to the point of forgetting this year even existed. and this is coming from sone who actually used to look forward to Christmas, it always filled me with joy for whatever reason. now I feel just mostly empty and sad.

@Spidey91 - Hey... I’m sorry to hear that. Why do you feel this way?

@malschla - life in general: unfulfilling job, pandemic stuff, friends being far away, family troubles, sh*tty town. I hope to turn it around next year.

@Spidey91 - I know what you mean/how you feel.

Without going into too much detail... I lost both my older brother, and father over the recent years. I'm visually impaired so struggling to find work from home. Also I'm living with my mother who lost her job thanks to COVID, she now wants to move near my sister (who live in some rural area/near Amish) and I don't. I also struggle with Anxiety and Depression (made worse after my father passed in June of last year)

It's really hard staying optimistic, and I'm there with you.

@Spidey91 - I don't know you but feel as though I should at least offer something. For me my '2020' was 2002. It started great but then turned to crap (to put if lightly) and I was facing punishment from the military, divorce and survived a suicide attempt. DANCING got me through it and past it all. Don't know you age or likes/dislikes but I know bad times are temporary. Try not to let them rule your life. I know it's extremely hard at times but it CAN be done. Find something, anything large or small that gives you joy and focus on it. Don't know if you're religious but God Bless you. Don't know if you're into Star Wars but May The Force Be With You, Star Trek - Live Long and Prosper. Transformers - Transform and Roll Out!, G.I. Joe - Yo Joe!, Centurions - Power Extreme! I can do this all day but I hope you see my point.
