Disney's upcoming live-action remake of Snow White remains divisive, but a new report claims test screenings have gone better than you might expect. We also have updates on a host of live-action projects!

Disney's live-action remake of Snow White continues to make headlines, with a few recent rumours going so far as to claim lead star Rachel Zegler has been fired and the movie itself scrapped. We can assure you that's not the case, and while the project is still very much dividing opinions, it is heading our way next year.

While Zegler has been forced to contend with racist abuse, her previous remarks about the original animated classic have become a sticking point for many Disney fans, as has the decision to ditch the Seven Dwarfs and other classic elements of the story like Prince Florian.

However, The DisInsider (via SFFGazette.com) is reporting that the movie has "scored pretty well" at test screenings, with those who attended saying both Zegler and Evil Queen actress Gal Gadot are "wonderful."

In other live-action Disney news, the Hercules remake being developed by the Russo Brothers and Aladdin director Guy Ritchie is said to be eyeing Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther) and Taron Egerton (Kingsman) to play the Demi-God. It's unclear whether Ariana Grande is still in the running for Meg, though.

Elsewhere, the title character in Moana has reportedly been cast after Auli'i Cravalho, who voiced the animated version, played a key role in helping the studio pick her replacement.

Bambi is going to be made in the same vein as The Jungle Book and The Lion King, while filmmaker Juan Carlos Fresandillo has reportedly left A Sword in the Stone.

Aristocats is also on the way, while Carlos Lopez Estrada is still attached to Robin Hood (the script was penned by Lady and the Tramp's Kari Granlund). The site explains that, "The film will use a hybrid of live-action and CGI, as the characters will be anthropomorphic like the animated film before it. The film will also be a musical, which is different from the original."

The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Frozen, and Tarzan movies are all in various stages of development but any recent casting rumours are supposedly untrue.

Here's one particularly exciting tidbit, though; it sounds like something is going on with Atlantis: The Lost Empire, though it's currently unclear what it might be. The animated movie has a devoted fan following so an epic live-action movie has the potential to be amazing.

While Disney has been a little hit-and-miss with its live-action offerings, the next few years sound incredibly exciting and we're hoping at least most of these become a reality...hopefully without the sort of sweeping changes which have seen Snow White come under fire. We'll have to wait and see, though.

"Racist attacks."

Stay Woke, Josh. Stay Woke. And shilling for Disney, too, but that should go without saying.

Unconfirmed test screenings, and the word “wonderful” mentioned means we’re supposed to take that as a unanimous consensus? Highly doubt that, especially in this case.

@MosquitoFarmer - It's very fortunate then that nowhere in the article does it say anything of the sort.

@FireandBlood - 1. Plenty of movies that in retrospect turned out to be garbage had positive test screenings. Wasn't Love and Thunder said to have great test screenings? (It's a rhethorical question; it was.) 2. Do you dipshits even care at this point about what name-callings to use when attacking those you dissagree with? Incels hate women, correct? Correct. This movie's recieves hate for how inaccurate it is to the source material and how it distorts its titular character and supporting cast. Explain to me, if only incels hate this movie, why all of their complaints relate to how much they love the original movie, in which the main character is a girl, and how this new movie will be nothing like it?

@URCOMMENTSUCKS - No grown man gives this much of a [frick] about Snow White, and not a single one of these so called grown men even uttered a word about Snow White until Rachel Zegler made these fragile mf’s feel some type of a way.

Go cry to your boys about how upset you are over the Snow White reboot like you do here, and watch them laugh at your loser ass 🫵😂

URCOMMENTSUCKS - 10/20/2023, 2:17 AM
@FireandBlood - Shut the [frick] up and debate my point, Monsuier Strawman. You claimed incels only hate this remake. I put your judgement into question, because what the term ''incels'' means contradicts the popoular reasoning for why this remake gets hated on.

Snow White is a monumental piece of animation. Duh, obviously grown men who are into pop culture are gonna be fans of it.

You keep talking about political bullshit when Disney remakes been getting shat on since day one. So clearly the issue didn't start with the Snow White.

Go to a movie theather and project your bullshit there, dipshit. You made a shitty point and got rightfully so embarrassed for it. And stop referring to some ephemereal group I'm supposed to be aligned with. I assume you're referring to the Fandom Menace and the likes of Nerdrotic. Well, guess what, moron, I think he and the likes of him are sorry-ass grifters with shitty opinions, too. So eat the L.

You really be on some a grade-A loser type shit. Get outside and touch a little grass.

@FireandBlood - The fandom menace is a bunch of grifters who ahs dedicated their life to hate on Star Wars. They are what people refer to when they think of Toxic fandom. Something happened to their brains after the sequel trilogy and they have been bitching and moaning about Star Wars ever since.
