Eternals ended with Arishem the Judge taking the immortals who had defied him to parts unknown. All we know is that they're facing judgement for their role in stopping the Emergence of Tiamut, but a mid-credits scene revealed that help could come from an unexpected source.
Teleported aboard the Domo by Pip the Troll, Harry Styles' Eros/Starfox (Thanos' brother) promised the rest of the Eternals that he could help them find their friends. It was an intriguing moment, albeit one somewhat overshadowed by the questionable VFX used to bring Patton Oswalt's Pip to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
We're sure he'll look a bit better the next time he appears, though Oswalt is uncertain when and where that might be.
When ComicBook.com mentioned a recent rumour that he'll feature alongside Styles in a spinoff, the actor admitted to being in the dark about Marvel Studios' future plans.
"I have not heard those rumors. That would be amazing if it [the sequel was about Starfox and Pip] was true, because it just seems to me that every time Marvel has rolled the dice on these kinds of B or C-level characters that everyone's like, 'Oh, who cares about them?' That's where they end up kind of really blossoming," the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alum said. "There's Guardian of the Galaxy. I don't know if you've seen the new Ms. Marvel show, but it is just an absolute delight. I mean, it's [so] great."
"Also, I'm a huge fan of both the Ant-Man movies. I think those are fantastic and very, very underrated in terms of a Marvel and capturing the spirit of those times," Oswalt continued. "So if they did a movie about Starfox and Pip, that would be Those would be dice I'd like to roll. Why not?"
Eternals didn't resonate with critics in quite the same way other Marvel Studios movies have, while it also delivered disappointing box office numbers in the wake of the pandemic. As a result, we don't know how likely a sequel actually is, though it would be a great shame to never address that cliffhanger (and to leave all these great characters on the shelf).
Marvel Studios' Eternals follows a group of ancient heroes from beyond the stars who had protected Earth since the dawn of man. When monstrous creatures called Deviants, long thought lost to history, mysteriously return, the Eternals are forced to reunite in order to defend humanity once again.
The outstanding ensemble cast includes Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie.
Eternals is available on Disney+, Digital, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, and DVD.
