ETERNALS Star Patton Oswalt Hasn't Heard About Sequel Plans But Hopes For A STARFOX & PIP Spinoff

Patton Oswalt has addressed recent rumours that he and Harry Styles' Eros could take the lead in an Eternals spinoff, and as you might expect, the actor is keen to continue playing Pip the Troll...

Eternals ended with Arishem the Judge taking the immortals who had defied him to parts unknown. All we know is that they're facing judgement for their role in stopping the Emergence of Tiamut, but a mid-credits scene revealed that help could come from an unexpected source.

Teleported aboard the Domo by Pip the Troll, Harry Styles' Eros/Starfox (Thanos' brother) promised the rest of the Eternals that he could help them find their friends. It was an intriguing moment, albeit one somewhat overshadowed by the questionable VFX used to bring Patton Oswalt's Pip to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We're sure he'll look a bit better the next time he appears, though Oswalt is uncertain when and where that might be.

When ComicBook.com mentioned a recent rumour that he'll feature alongside Styles in a spinoff, the actor admitted to being in the dark about Marvel Studios' future plans.

"I have not heard those rumors. That would be amazing if it [the sequel was about Starfox and Pip] was true, because it just seems to me that every time Marvel has rolled the dice on these kinds of B or C-level characters that everyone's like, 'Oh, who cares about them?' That's where they end up kind of really blossoming," the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alum said. "There's Guardian of the Galaxy. I don't know if you've seen the new Ms. Marvel show, but it is just an absolute delight. I mean, it's [so] great."

"Also, I'm a huge fan of both the Ant-Man movies. I think those are fantastic and very, very underrated in terms of a Marvel and capturing the spirit of those times," Oswalt continued. "So if they did a movie about Starfox and Pip, that would be Those would be dice I'd like to roll. Why not?"

Eternals didn't resonate with critics in quite the same way other Marvel Studios movies have, while it also delivered disappointing box office numbers in the wake of the pandemic. As a result, we don't know how likely a sequel actually is, though it would be a great shame to never address that cliffhanger (and to leave all these great characters on the shelf).

Marvel Studios' Eternals follows a group of ancient heroes from beyond the stars who had protected Earth since the dawn of man. When monstrous creatures called Deviants, long thought lost to history, mysteriously return, the Eternals are forced to reunite in order to defend humanity once again.

The outstanding ensemble cast includes Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie.

Eternals is available on Disney+, Digital, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, and DVD.

@Unconforming - Silly thing to complain about. It's not the best CGI but it's nowhere near bad.

Just make him be himself.

Seriously, why was he cgi? It's one thing to point out how bad the Cg was, but i don't even know why they did it. Pip doesn't look too weird for a human, and Oswald is already pretty short. Just needs a beard and dyed hair. Was that really too much?

@Origame - i would assume since pip was a last minute addition it was quicker to whip up a CG character than costuming and resizing Patton, there’s no way they were gonna use regular size version of Oswald

@ShimmyShimmyYA - yeah but now they gave him a look they're basically always have to keep, since Oswald doesn't look like the cgi model.

Plus, it wasn't enough time to do the cgi either. At least having Oswald there physically would've been much less embarrassing.

@Origame - I don’t think he’ll look that bad next time hopefully. Funny thing is that model looks good for a video game shit for a movie lol

@ShimmyShimmyYA - but the point is because of time constraints they will have to use this chi from now on.

Also, modern video games look much better than this.

I don't think an Eternals sequel movie or a Pip & Starfox spin-off movie is the best idea. Might just work better as a six episode show

SPIDERMAN one of the worst movies ever made
DR STRANGE "bad exposition" the movie

@JuanRGuijarro - it’s a terrible [frick]ing film. Most of phase four has been terrible too.

Why does Pip look like Javier Bardem in the headline image?

Please bury anything and everything Eternals related. Film sucked, characters sucked, plot was dumb, and I have zero interest in anything aside from maybe Black Knight. That’s it.

I don’t get why everyone hates Eternals. It wasn’t THAT bad.
TheLobster
TheLobster - 6/15/2022, 7:12 PM
@GameOn - it’s honestly pretty bad IMO

The worst part is that it’s so lifeless. I understand that it’s not a typical MCU film, I actually love that, but the characters are so bland to the point that I don’t care about any of them whatsoever. Tell me a personality trait of Ikaris aside from being quiet/reserved. How about Gilgamesh aside from being protective? Literally every character is one note and it’s boring as shit.
GameOn
GameOn - 6/15/2022, 8:51 PM
@TheLobster - I got a good bit of enjoyment out of Sprite, Kingo, Druig, Phastos, and Gilgamesh. I think they focused on the wrong characters or didn’t give enough personality to the leads, but the ones I named had enough of their limited traits shine through that I remember appreciating them and could see them being fleshed out in later films. It was fine. Could have done without some, could have seen some more of others, but overall I wasn’t like super disappointed or anything.
