Wonder Woman. One of the greatest fictional female characters of all time. First appearing in 1941, she has had a history of stories that could translate, and have translated, to many forms of media. Her own TV show, plus two others that didn't make it to the small screen. Animated cartoons, animated direct to DVD movies, but never a feature length film. Her first appearance on the big screen was in this years the Lego Movie. Despite the Lego Movie being my favorite movie of the year so far, I still think her first appearance on the big screen should've been in her own movie. It's long overdue. When that movie comes, I'd like to see 10 things be implemented in to it. Here are those 10 Things.
1) Female Hercules
You might not know what I mean by female Hercules. I want her to be like one of those heroes from the old Greek myths. I want her to go on adventures and face multiple challenges on the way until she gets to the final battle. Wonder Woman IS a female Hercules. Another thing I want to see is the involvement of some of the characters from ancient Greek mythology. Like the new 52 run, they should be involved in the story. I also want a strong willed character that can take care of herself. She shouldn't take crap from anyone and should always be ready for a fight. One thing I don't wanna see is a misandrist (hater of men) Wonder Woman. Same with the rest of the Amazons. They shouldn't hate them, but feel that they don't need them. WW should start off as a girl not just prepared for a fight, but trying to start one. When that fight does come along she does everything to beat her opponent(s), but doesn't pay attention to her surroundings. She would be a great fighter if there was no one or thing around her other than her opponent, but if she's in a crowded place she would endanger a lot of lives. That could be one reason why Hippolyta doesn't want her to leave Themyscira. Over the course of the movie she would grow into a better warrior, and would learn that looking for fights causes nothing, but trouble. Lastly Wonder Woman should just be a fun character. She likes to have fun, and should generally be an upbeat character. Her idea of fun might be to beat someone to a pulp, but she still likes to enjoy herself.
2) The Costume
This is something that comes up EVERY time a WW movie is discussed. Some people argue that her comic book outfit is to slutty, but when you add pants people say it doesn't look like classic Wonder Woman. What I like about this outfit is that it's armor like, it has a ancient Greco-roman look and feel to it. It's not too revealing, but still gives us something to look at and it just looks really cool. The only thing I'd add is more blue tones here and there. Some people might say that the panties look could work. I agree it could work, but one thing that usually comes with the panties is the thing I hate the most about WW. The stars meant to be like the American flag. I have nothing wrong with a character representing America (the country I was born and raised in), but when you think about it why would WW rep American flag based clothes anyway? She's from Themyscira a island full of only women. A island full of people that feel that men aren't needed in anything other than reproduction. They feel that men aren't needed in life and that females are the dominant species. America is a country that has always and continues to lift men higher than women, and WW isn't from the country anyway. Since this movie would showcase her first time going to America she wouldn't know of the flag. This costume wouldn't be to her a costume. It would be Themyscira battle armor. If they don't go with this costume I would like to see the New 52 version or maybe even something based off of the armor seen in Justice League: War.
3) A Director Who Can Deliver
Themyscira needs to be visually stunning. It is also called paradise island so it needs to look like a paradise. This film needs a director that can give us that. This director also needs to know how to bring that same beauty to a modern American city. I have a few directors in mind.
Rupert Wyatt is one of my favorite directors, and I was sad to see him leave the Planet of the Apes franchise so soon. He has a nice balance of fantasy/Sci-fi concepts with the real world. There was a feel to the apes in the film that I think could translate well to a more woodland or earthy Themyscira. I think giving him a project as big as this would not phase him, and if it did he would still succeed.
I chose Peter Jackson for his way of creating whole worlds. I want what he brought to middle earth to be applied to Themyscira, Olympus and even the Underworld. The one doubt I have is that I have yet to see him do a film that took place in modern day. That transition from ancient Greco Themyscira to the modern "world of man" is big and I don't want the quality of stunning visuals to fall once that transition happens. I also liked him for his ability to make a movie look bright, but have a tone that's dark. I don't believe he'd take on the project, but if he did I surely wouldn't be complaining.
Noam Murro was behind the recent film 300: Rise of an Empire. I'll admit this was not better than it's predecessor, but the film was entertaining enough for me. I think the direction was great. Even though he clearly was trying to continue was Zack Snyder left off, he still did a fantastic job with it and if he added some of those elements to this film then I would be more than happy.
Alan Taylor would give us an amazing take on the World of Themyscira. He is an incredible director who has done great work on films like Thor: The Dark World and TV shows like Game of Thrones. I think he could bring a really fun, dramatic, dark, and light toned feel to a WW movie.
My other choice, David Yates, is because he has the ability to make the transfer between the modern world and a fantasy world. We've seen this in the 5 Harry Potter films he is repsonsible for, and I feel they are the best ones in the series. He is a very talented director who could bring a lot to this film. I don't know if he could be as visually stunning as a Peter Jackson, but he would definitely be enough for a WW film.
4) The Origin, My Take
One thing also mentioned a lot when discussing the WW movie is whether or not to use the new 52 origin or the pre flashpoint origin. Most fans have said pre flashpoint. I like both origins, but I feel that the pre flashpoint origin would not work well on film. I love the new 52 version of making WW a demi-god which she should be. The new 52 one also made it easier to introduce more gods in the storyline since her father is the king of them all. But since fans love their classic origins I have come up with an origin that combines the two. Here it goes:
Hippolyta the Queen of the Amazons always wanted a daughter, but she was unable to bare children. Her only hope was that a god could give her one. She then began an affair with Zeus. Yet, she still couldn’t even bare the child of a god. Zeus felt sympathy and answered her prayers. Zeus asked all of the gods, except Hera, to help bless a baby girl for Hippolyta. He excluded Hera because he did not want her to be suspicious of any affair between him and the amazonian queen. Hippolyta was told to form the baby out of clay, leave it on the shore, and then come back the next morning. The gods, who agreed, each blessed the clay baby. Demeter blessed her with strength and durability. Hermes with speed, flight, and a healing factor. Athena with divine wisdom. Aphrodite with great beauty. And finally Artemis with enhanced senses.
The next day Hippolyta came back to find a beautiful baby girl. She thanked the gods and named her Diana…
5) Over Arcing Plot
I think that the villain of the (first) trilogy should be none other than the goddess to the left....Hera. Hera is known for being jealous, and who can blame her? Her husband is a very promiscuous man. He's created many famous figures of legend, but has done so without his wife. Hera believes that Diana is one of them. Hera learns of the affair between Zeus and Hippolyta and deduces that Diana is the daughter of the Amazonian queen and the Olympian king. She tasks her son Ares with doing what he does best. Starting a war. Between who you ask? Themyscira, and the United States of America. Before we get to that I must tell you what my ideas for Diana are in the upcoming Batman vs Superman so that it all ties together. In BvS, Diana is maniuplated by Lex Luthor to believe that Superman destroyed Themyscira while she was gone taking Steve Trevor to America. Lex Luthor uses her rage against Superman so that he has a match. She is convinced that Luthor played her and joins Superman and Batman against Luthor. At the end of the film she is asked by the government to provide more information on Themyscira and she wearily obliges.
At the opening of her film we are in America. The U.S. announces that they are going to war on the island of Themyscira for ambiguous reasons. Wonder Woman is furious and goes to see what is going on. She reaches Steve Trevor and aks him if he knows anything. He doesn't. She decides to get down to the bottom of it. She realizes that Ares had manipulated the government of the United States of America to start a war with Themyscira. The plot of her solo film revovles around her going on a quest (complete with Greek mythology like trials and everything) to find Ares and stop him. Complete with fights between her and the army, her and monsters, her and other Amazonians, and finally her and Ares; this movie would feel like an ancient greek legend set in modern day. The film would end with Ares going to his mother Hera and explaining to her how he failed. Hera is ashamed in him. She kicks him out of his throne room as her daughter Eris or Strife, as she likes to be called, enters the room.
This sets up a trilogy of Hera trying to kill Diana and the Amazons which could end in many different ways. Even in a battle between Hera and Diana. I think this would be a wonderful story and the DC equivalent to Marvel's Thor series. I imagine that the second film would be an adaption of Brian Azzarello's new 52 Wonder Woman run.
6) Wonder Woman....More Like WARRIOR Woman
"One badass thing about Wonder Woman is that she kills, that’s the thing that sets her apart from the rest of The League, except the fact she is a woman… Anyway, Wonder Woman is a killer she isn’t looking for truth and justice she is looking to clean the streets and the way she does it, is kill. Gods trained Wonder Woman; she has been trained as though every situation is war. She kills for the greater good. She doesn’t battle criminals to bring them to justice, she battles them and kills them, and she is a killing machine." - Beloved CBM User Khan...
Khan layed it out perfectly. He described exactly what I was going to say in one point on one of his great editorials. To read the rest of his article click here.
7) Eva Green as a Bad@$$ Female Villain!!!!
If you've seen this years 300: Rise of an Empire you know exactly why I have this as one of my top 10 things and that she can be added to the follow up to Seth MacFarlane's song. A lot of people have said "OMG Eva Green would be SOOOOO great as Wonder woman." I'm sorry to say I don't agree with you. Eva Green is a mighty fine and talented actress, but I don't feel like she has the thing that Wonder Woman needs. After seeing her play Artemisia in the most recent 300 film, I realized that she needed to play a part in a Wonder Woman movie, but not as WW herself, but as a villain. Imagine her as the jealous Hera I mentioned above. Or as Circe, Strife, or even Barbara Minerva's cheetah. She would own in all of those roles and I think that she would up for doing it.
8) If You Do the Invisible Plane Do It Right
The Invisible Plane, in my eyes, is a pointless contraption that should be erased from the history of comics. Why? As you can see in the picture to the left, despite the plane being invisible (it really isn't in every adaption you can still see at least the outline) you can still see whoever rides inside of it. This defeats the whole purpose of the plane, unless the purpose was so that you can look at Wonder Woman fly above you in a sitting position. I posted an article very similar to the this one on another site, and my 8th point was titled "NO FREAKING INVISIBLE PLANE!!!! NO!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!! GOD NO!!!! PLEASE NO!!!!! IF ANYTHING NOT THAT!!!! PLEASE NO!!! I BEG YOU NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" You can imagine what it was about. This lead to a 4 manned debate (3 against one) about if it shoudl be in the movie or not. It lasted 18 of 22 comments on the article. So in this article i've decided to re-invent the plane so that fans of it can still have it present, but haters of it (me) can stand it.

The Plane is Completely Invisble: In a lot of media to represent an invisible person or thing u get a transparent version versus invisble. What I mean by that is you can clearly tell where the person/thing is even though they're supposed to be completely invisble. I don't like this at all. If they're going to be invisible make them invisible. This should include the people and things inside of the plane. The only purpose of a plane that could turn invisible would be to have a stealth plane that people couldn't see coming. Someone flying across the sky in the position of sitting in a chair would be more suspicious and less stealthy than a plane flying over itself. Clearly someone would notice it. So everything inside the plane is invisble and there is no way for you to see it at all.

It's Steve Trevor's Not the Amazon's: Why would the Amazons have an plane, let alone an invisible one? What would they need it for? Where are they going to go? The Island isn't that big. So this plane is Steve Trevor's. This is not a plane that stays invisible forever, but it has a transparency feature on it. This plane is the plane Steve Trevor came to the island with. We would only see it invisble so many times in any of the films so it would just be fan service.
Now I'm not going to go as far as saying it's the JLA's plane, like tey did in te new 52, not because I don't like that concept, bt because this should not be seen outside of one scene in the first WW film. I don't want to see the JLA with this plane.
9) Themyscira is in It's Own Universe
Now don't start blowing your childhood rape whistles. This is what I mean by "it's own universe". In Man of Steel something happened. Do you remember the World Machine? This has to do with that. Before we get in to that, let me ask you a question. How as no one ever found Themyscira? It's an island in the middle of the ocean, someone would've found it by now. I know that it's shrouded by spells and stuff like that, but I think the explanation needs to be updated in an MOS universe. How would I update? Sci-Fi dsiguised as Magic. The Themyscirans think that they are shrouded by a enchanted spell that doesn't let anybody fro mthe world of man inside their kingdom, but that's not the case. I believe that the Greek Gods should have an Ancient Alien type feel to them and that they placed Themyscira inside a small pocket universe. This pocket universe is just the island and what appears to be a never ending sea. The door to this universe can only be opened in two places. The pacific ocean, and Olympus. When the World Machine acitvated it messed with the earth. Not only it's atmosphere, but it cracked open the door to Themyscira, and another door at the bottom of the Atlantic (hint, hint). The U.S. Government sees this, and so does a certain special vigilante, and ask Lex Luthor for his help in figuring out what it is. It opens about once every month. Pilot Steve Trevor is sent to the portal to see what's on the other side...
10) Don't Make Her Stupid!!! Just a Little Naive...
The picture to the left is of a page in the first Story arc of the Justice League comic. Wonder Woman had just gotten outside of Themyscira and into the U.S. When I read this i stood in awe at how much I hated this page. It makes WW seem so Stupid. Yeah she might not know what Ice cream is, but this seen is pointless and stupid. I've seen a lot of interpretations of WW that make her seem like a stupid and clueless little girl that speaks old English. WW could be a little naive and curious since shes in a new world, but making her like how they did on this page to the left is something i don't want to see happen!
Thanks for reading! If you want to see me do these with any other heroes or even villains message me or tell me in the comments. Share with me and the rest of the world your 10 things that you want to see in a WW movie in the comment section. Do you agree or disagree? Let me know. And as always, until next time...
