A fancast for an F4 Reboot(that's hopefully not from Fox)

Good news: I survived to spring break, and since today is my first official day off(no work, no school, nothing to do). I'm going to give you guys and gals an F4 cast.

Editorial Opinion
By JaredRWebb12 - Mar 07, 2017 09:03 AM EST
Filed Under: Fan Fic

Ethan Hawke as Reed Richards

Age:46
Notable work:Training Day, Gattaca, Sinister
Why: Ethan Hawke has the right look and ability to play a more weathered and wise Reed Richards(and lets be honest do we want to see another F4 origin movie?)

Elizabeth Banks as Sue Storm

Age:43
Notable work:Hunger Games,Pitch Perfect,Spider-Man
Why: To go along with an older Reed, I figured as go with an older Sue(since wouldn't it be slightly wierd to have have 46 year old Ethan Hawke romancing a 20 something actress).

Garrett Hedlund as Johnny Storm

Age:32
Notable work:Tron Legacy,Unbroken,Four Brothers,Friday Night Lights
Why: When I was thinking of the younger Storm sibling, it hit me that age was just a number when I was casting, since Johnny acts like a man-child half the time anyway, and Hedlund stuck out to me while I was watching Friday Night Lights and Four Brothers.

Terry Crews as Ben Grimm

Age:48
Notable work:Brooklyn Nine Nine,Everybody Hates Chris,Bridesmaids, The Expendables franchise, The Longest Yard
Why: A quick glance over his characters will reveal an actor who can play the comedic, smart aleck uncle, the caring, tender soul, and the best friend of the F4.

Villains

Christoph Waltz as Doctor Doom

Age:60
Notable work: Inglorious Basterds,Django Unchained,Spectre
Why:The guy is a masterful villain actor who can easily pull of the greatest comic book villain created.

Dustin Hoffman as Mole Man(if used)

Age:79
Notable work:The Graduate, Rain Man,Kramer v Kramer
Why: Just to be clear, if Mole Man is used at all, it should simply be a bridge villain, and in this capactity an actor such as Hoffman would be able to give him a very interesting, sarcastic sense of humor to keep an audience wrapped up.

Director:
For the first time in this page's history, we have a tie, and so, I would like for everyone in the audience who reads this to debate:

1)Robert Zemeckis
d
Age:64
Notable Work:Back to the Future Trilogy, Forrest Gump,The Polar Express, Castaway
Why:Spielberg protege with strong background in visual effects

2)Peyton Reed

Age:52
Notable work:Ant-Man
Why: About 12 years ago, Peyton Reed pitched an F4 movie, and after the sucess of Ant-Man, is he ready to live the dream with the F4?

3)Danny Boyle

Age:60
Notable work:Trainspotting,Slumdog Millionaire,127 Hours, Steve Jobs

So that's all folks, leave all thoughts, consternations, concerns, and pleas for mercy in the comments section below...
Cheers,
Jared R Webb

Not bad. Not who I would have chosen, but that is the point of these. I would typically say that people usually post these in Fan Fic ...but it is an either or thing with me. I think the best way to justify them in editorials though is a paragraph or two on why they work. You could also talk about how you would market it and what the themes would be. Either way, I like your choices.

However, this DOES give me an idea. Would anybody be interested in participating in a Fan Cast tournament? EAch match up, two users would be pit against each other, they are given a property to cast, users vote on who had the best cast, winner moves on to the next round. Does that sound interesting to anyone? I've been wanting to participate on this site in a more productive manner as of late. I think this would be fun. Is there any interest?

Zemeckis would be a good director. And I can't believe I never thought of Waltz as Doom. Nice cast.

My reaction to those picks is mixed. A couple of your picks I liked, like Garrett Hedlund as Johnny Storm and Terry Crews as Ben Grimm, and others I was in the middle about like Elizabeth Banks as Sue Storm. But the others, I just can’t get behind. My choices would be this…

Sue Storm (Alice Eve)

Richard Reed (Rupert Friend)

Johnny Storm (Zac Efron)

Ben Grimm (Omari Hardwick)

Alicia Masters (Joy Bryant)

Victor Von Doom (James Purefoy)

Directed by
J.A. Bayona

@Forthas - I think our casts would work for two distinct versions of the Four-yours is great for a younger, more "hot shot" cast and mine is much older. I DO like your picks(especially Johnny)

@JaredRWebb12 - When you put it that way...it is clearer what you were striving for.

@Forthas - Efron has been my pick for Jonny for some time. Love it.

Garrett Hedlund would make a great Johnny Storm, but it's hard for me to agree with the rest. Especially Hawke as Richards, I just really can't see him in the role.

@MrMurdock - He gave off a Reed-ish vibe in Sinister strangely enough and no to Terry Crews as The Thing?
DetectiveCinema
DetectiveCinema - 3/9/2017, 10:22 PM
@JaredRWebb12 - Mmm, somewhat. He was really good in Sinister, though I'm not sure what comic-book related role I could see him in to be honest. I'm just not a Terry Crews fan in general man aha, don't want to see him any comic book movie I don't think.

After seeing Ant-Man I'd love to see what Reed could do with the property though.

JaredRWebb12 - 3/10/2017, 7:07 AM
@MrMurdock - That's all good brother, Ethan Hawke would probably rock the brainy/nerdy type comic role, and two fun facts: Ant-Man was actually a member of the F4(as well as their electrician) back in the day, and Reed was actually about to direct an F4 movie in 2005
DetectiveCinema
DetectiveCinema - 3/10/2017, 8:37 PM
@JaredRWebb12 - Marvel-wise, I could picture him as Spencer Smythe. DC wise, not sure.

I genuinely did not know that Ant-Man was their electrician, now I really want the Fantastic Four back at Marvel Studios!
