Title - Gotham Heights
This is a Batman Year One-esque film story. It starts 2 years after the events of Man of Steel. It would tell the story of the corruption of the city's officials and how it's driven by the crime lords. Lieutenant Jim Gordon, a cop from Chicago, reports for duty at the GCPD station as he is assigned to his partner, Detective Flass. Bruce Wayne begins his life of crime-fighting while encountering other vigilantes along the way. Batman and Jim's alliance grows throughout the film as they defeat the crime lords that have taken over the city. During this time, several heroes and villains rise. In this storyline, Edward Nashton is a young genius that is a key figure at Wayne Engineering and Bruce hires him to work for him personally, kind of like Morgan Freeman in DK trilogy. Gordon goes against his fellow officers and gets beat up by Flass and then Gordon returns the favor by knocking him off the road several days later and beating him up to a pulp. Commisioner Loeb grows weary of Gordon and threatens him about his affair with Detective Sarah Essen. Batman goes on a rampage against the crime lords of Gotham and attacks Roman Sionis, said to be responsible for the death of his parents as Wayne Industries was competition to Orpheus Industries, Sionis' company. When Batman hears this he beats Sionis' face repeatedly until Alfred tells him to stop over the communicator. The story would also show the relationship Alfred and Bruce have. Sionis puts a bounty on his head and on Gordon's. Sionis begins to wear a black mask over his face. Sionis hires Morgan Ducard, unbeknownst to him he is actually ex-friends with Bruce Wayne and trained with him. Ducard came for he sole reason to finally beat him since he has been watching him and he knew it was Brice because of his fighting style. Ducard takes Gordon's newly-born daughter, Barbara, and tells him to meet him at the shipyards and as Ducard fights Batman, beating him up and leaving him on the ground, Gordon shoots him in the head and the friendship begins. Batman goes after Sionis, going against Alfred, who told him he should rest, and uses his wits against his large bodyguards and beats them all up, reaching Sionis's office. Sionis tells him that he controls all the officials and commissioners of Gotham City and that's when the GCPD storms the building and as they rush upstairs Batman grabs Sionis and jumps through the window where he is caught by a hovering ship that Edward was building as a surprise and he was driving. Edward then calls her The Batplane. Batman turns Sionis in to Gordon and makes him testify against all of the officials that he's bribed, putting Flass, Commisioner Loeb, and the Mayor in Jail. At the City gala, Gordon is promoted to Commissioner. At the same gala, Bruce is then introduced to Oliver Queen. The story would end with a scene of Batman contacting Superman and them talking.
Director - Sam Mendes
I, personally, enjoy his filmwork and how he is able to capture the emotions of a character and is able to make the film revolve around the character rather the story. His work is very similar to Zack Snyder. Notable Works: Skyfall, Road to Perdition, Revolutionary Road
Writers - Geoff Johns/Frank Miller
Two great writers who actually know the story, the character, and the personality of the Caped Crusader. Frank Miller wrote Batman Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City, The Spirit. Geoff Johns is a comic book writer known for Batman: Earth One, Green Lantern, Justice League, Flashpoint Paradox, Blackest Night.
Casting
Bruce Wayne/Batman - Joel Kinnaman
The first time I watched "The Killing" on AMC, I instantly fell in love with this actor. On the show, he plays a dark detective solving crimes and following serial killers while dealing with personal struggles. In "Easy Money" he plays a character similar to Bruce Wayne and its a performance that reminds me of Christian Bale as Bateman in "American Psycho", its that good. Currently, he's starring in RoboCop.
Other Actors cosidered: Anson Mount, Liam McIntyre, Jim Caviezel, Joel Edgerton, Karl Urban, Jay Ryan
Alfred Pennyworth - Liam Cunningham
In the comics, Alfred Pennyworth was an MI6 agent. His father, Jarvis, had been working for the Wayne family and he was hired as a bodyguard/butler/grounds keeper for the family upon his father's retirement. Liam Cunningham is a great, gritty, British Actor who can play a retired spy as well as looking the part and being able to play humble butler as well. He was great in The Numbers Station and that is why I saw him playing this role.
Other Actors considered: Jeremy Irons, Pierce Brosnan
Lieutenant Jim Gordon - Karl Urban
I love Karl Urban and he didn't come to mind until I saw the film "Out of the Blue". A spectacular piece of art where he literally plays Jim Gordon. Personally, I like the grittier, younger Jim Gordon portrayed in Year One and I believe that Karl can capture the badass persona.
Other Actors Considered: Bryan Cranston, Josh Brolin, Joel Kinnaman, Joaquin Phoenix, Joel Edgerton
Edward Nashton - Ben Whishaw
Ben Whishaw was great as Q and he would be a believable genius. 'Nuff Said
Other actors considered: David Tennant
Detective Flass - Jai Courtney
I love him and hes great at playing rogue military characters and I could not see a better choice for the young Flass.
Commissioner Loeb - Brian Cox
He plays a really similar character in Bourne and I just love how he played him. He's perfect.
Other actors considered: John Goodman, Brendan Gleeson, Tom Berenger
Morgan Ducard - Omar Sy
If you've ever seen "The Intouchables" you would remember that Omar Sy is a fantastic actor who portrayed the character perfectly. If you haven't, watch it. Throughout the movie, he changes from a street thug to a humble, nice caretaker of this man who has become paralysed. He is French and would be perfect choice.
Other Actors Considered: Michael Jai White, Laz Alonso, Brian White
Roman Sionis - Viggo Mortensen
Perfect. He's a great actor whose fond of playing villains. The story could work to his age as well.
Other Actors considered: Sean Penn
Oliver Queen - Joel Edgerton
I love this guy. I really had no idea where to place him in the dc universe. I originally had him as Gordon but I would love him as Oliver Queen. He looks a lot like the traditional Ollie but not the new 52 version.
Other Actors Considered: Garrett Hedlund, Joel Kinnaman
