Captain America: Winter Soldier( How I think it can connect into the MCU)

My thoughts on how minor details from the current MCU can help tie things up for the Cap sequel.

This is the second editorial I am doing, and with the help of your constructive criticism I have made changes to how I structure my articles so as to make them more interesting and readable. So thank you guys in advance.

The Avengers left us all in aw of it's spectacle, the story was rich and the heart was strong and I can not help but feel enlightened by the mark it left behind. With that said and the announcement of the current status of the Cap sequel I thought I would share some cool ideas in which Marvel may or may not include into the next story.

1. Considering the ties Black Widow has to Russia I think it's safe to say she is hiding a big secret in the form of Bucky still being alive and mostly well. And I'm sure in some way Steve will resent her and shield for keeping this from him. Remember the reference she had with Hawkeye during the main battle? Maybe Winter Soldier is the reason she has so much blood on her ledger...

2. During the sequence in which Steve saves Bucky from the warehouse it seems Bucky is under some kind of brain washing, I believe it's sub conscience brain washing like planting a seed and letting it grow. After Bucky falls from the train he could have lost his memory and the brain washing being the only thing in his mind. All he needs is an arm and a little push into the dark side, I think we could thank the Russians for that or a connection to "Baron Zemo" pulling the strings.

3. Sam Wilson aka Falcon was announced as a character to appear in the sequel, and here is a cool way to incorporate him into the MCU. I could see him being a pilot for shield, recruited from the air force thus having possible ties with Rhodey maybe even a cameo from Cheadle. His pilot code name could be Falcon with his plane having the "redwing" tag. A cool egg to include without having to have an actual bird perched on his shoulder.

I could drag out these ideas all day but I would rather have some input from you guys and girls on your thoughts and ideas . How can the story structure continue? And where do you believe the sequel will leave us? Have some fun and comment below. Maybe we can turn this into an epic brainstorming session...

Firstly - a really well written article. Nice one mate.

Secondly - very interesting connection to be made between BW and Bucky. You would at least think they may have once worked for the same organisation. Or even the same person.

The Hawkeye/Black Widow reference I think you're talking about it Budapest..which, I think is in Romania or Hungary ( I always get it mixed up with Bucharest) and not Russia. I think that even was just another SHIELD mission.

Also like your ideas about Sam Wilson. I am sure he will be some kind of SHIELD agent that may be kitted out by Stark Tech.

My only problem with the whole Bucky storyline is that how do they account for him being alive in the present day? And if they look at bring Red Skull back at some point (after his beaming up into the atmosphere) it will seem that everyone from Rogers past can pop up again. This would take away from Rogers' 'man out of time' aspect.

@Orphix: im guessing they would go the way of the comics and have an experimental russian cryo-stasis thing going.

Thas if it has anything to do with russia at all they might do a Nazi/HYDRA thing on us again and have a new HYDRA working within the russian side of the cold war.

Paulley@ Yep - thats how it was done in the comics but that sounds a bit hokey for a film. There was soem discussion about whether Bucky had been experimented on in his time as a prisoner. And that Zola had done something to him that would allowed him to survive a freezing process.

Just seems a bit of a cop out after that also happened to Cap.

all the hints were there, the sniper scene with Bucky, the death in the snowy "winter" alps, Buckys the only one on the table in the lab when cap saves him, why was he strapped in to the table, zola did something to him, they've already set it up without saying a peep. God I love the cap movie

@Orphix: Yea but you got to think (despite Zola preference to robot/technology) that HYDRA scientists continued to look into the serum.. with Red Skull samples and all the forced work with Erkstein... especially as they attempted to steal a finished sample.

Im sure they would have been testing it on captured soldiers. If they take Bucky that route and say they gave him an almost Infinity formula that allowed him to be frozen and survive the free fall in the first place.

They took Ultimate Nick Fury that route with several sorta nods to Luke Cage's and the second Union Jack origins so i could see them adapting it again for Bucky

Good points guys. I also believe that they may dump the whole brainwashing deal altogether and have Bucky grow into hatred for Cap since a search party never took place to attempt to find his body. And over the decades it's been his anger that has pushed him on. In the end he could still hate Steve for trying to take his anger and solemn pain away, the only thing that possibly got him through the long cold years of murderous secrecy.
