Crossbones One-Shot.
It starts with a now scarred and very angry Rumlow in a fight club where he lets out his rage by beating men twice his size almost to death. He's found there by Helmut Zemo who requests a private word.
Shot with dark lighting and harsh colours, the pair discuss Rumlow's hatred for Captain America and Zemo promises to help him get his revenge. They agree that first the Avengers must be made aware of Rumlow's return so they could draw them out into the open for their final battle.
Zemo informs Rumlow that Jack Rollins is currently in prison and has made a deal in which he will rat out Rumlow and other HYDRA agents on the run in exchange for freedom. Zemo tells Rumlow that he will be provided with a team of former Exo Scorpion soldiers to find and kill Rollins in the most public way they could.
Cut to Rollins in his prison cell, he hears a loud explosion and several gun shots. This goes on for a few seconds before the lights are cut out and the emergency lighting goes on (red lights). Silence falls over the prison and Rollins watches as his cell door is opened. Stepping outside Rollins sees dead guards littering the floor and Exo Scorpion soldiers standing to attention.
Following their instructions, Rollins is led to a large room where Rumlow is waiting for him, in the classic Crossbones uniform, less armor, sleeveless and a mask. Crossbones throws Rollins a knife and invites him to fight for his life, explaining this is for betraying him. The pair fight and Crossbones soon gains the upper hand, plunging his knife into Rollins' throat. As Rollins falls to his knees, gagging on his blood, Crossbones takes a gun and shoots him point blank in the face.
Returning to meet with Zemo, Rumlow questions when he will get his chance to kill Captain America, and Zemo tells him his chance will come soon enough, but first they must continue enticing the Avengers and strengthening themselves. With this Zemo hands Rumlow the Crossbones mask from Civil War and tells him to steal some guns so they can make an empire fall.
