Directors who should direct the Justice League solo films

Whether set before or after Justice League. Films following Man of Steel that are included are Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash Green Lantern and Aquaman (not that I want him to have a movie).

I'm going to cut to the chase already and just cut to the director who should direct the solo outing for...... Aquaman.

I'm not a fan of Cuaron's films (the one I did see and the trailers for the films I haven't. Makes no sense, I know) but, I think he would be able to create an accessable Aquaman film. If it's possible to make on successfully (I personally don't think so), I think Cauron could make a good Aquaman film due to the visual tones of his films, the development of the characters and stories and due to his acclaim from critics and fans. I simply think this one would be a no brainer. Maybe after Cuaron gets a hold of Aquaman, people like myself will finally take the character seriously (although he looks awesome in Injustice).

Wonder Woman

Nicholas Winding Refn last I knew is intersted in making Wonder Woman into a big screen film. I for one never really understood Wonder Woman except for what she stands for. But, she could be a superhero that women and young teenage girls and young girls in general could look up to. I think if he is still interested then he should do it. Nothing is better than having someone passionate about something and making a faithful adaptation (Unless your Kevin Tancharoen working on Mortal Kombat... Just saying). I think he could make a good Wonder Woman movie soely based on Drive. I don't think it's as good of a film as many make it out to be. But, I feel it's good enough to show his abilities as a director and land him the gig.

The Flash

I brought him up in my last Flash article. Sure, Night at the Museum showed he can do family films (they're not good movies but still) and Real Steel proved he can do action movies with heart. I think especially with Real Steel, he's proven he could take The Flash and really make it not only a good movie but also make him as he is in the comics which BattlinMurdock described as "the most marvel-y character in DC." and to be honest, that description fits. I think Levy could make The Flash a fun, pulpy film with character development, heart and action. Most would possibly disagree but, I support the idea.

Green Lantern

Reboot it first off. A sequel can not save the franchise. Not after the atrocious first film. Once you reboot it, grab Rian Johnson. Looper proved he can do a sci-fi action film while giving the characters development. Green Lantern is a sci-fi fi action film that needs character development. Just watch Looper. That should be all that's necessary to prove that he certainly fits the bill. He wants to make his own material first. Respectful and understandable. But, I say make him want to do this film. He could do this character and mythos a lot of justice and make the Green Lantern film we deserve.

Batman

Not starring, I would pick him to direct the reboot. Not because of Argo either (good movie, not as good as they want you to belive IMO). It's because of, The Town. The Town is my favorite Ben Affleck directoral effort. Edge of your seat action, strong romance, outstanding performances and is just an overall brilliant film. That is why I would chose Ben Affleck for Batman. Cause he can give us all of that in a Batman film. Plus, the gritty look his films have and the character focused films he's directed. I think he would make an outstanding Batman film.

I would add Martian Manhunter but I don't think a solo for him is necessary. What do you think? Anyone I miss? You got a different director for any of them in mind? Comment below with respect and be civil.

@Levi: I did not know that. Good point.

@LEVITIKUZ wasn't Kathryn Bigelow also interested in directing Thor or Thor 2? Or am I mistaking her for someone else?
I agree with that, to an extent - it'd really deliver the message of female strength that Wonder Woman stands for if an immensely talented woman directed the film.

Drive is the only film by Nicholas Winding Refn I've seen fully (I've seen bits of Bronson too), and Drive is one of my favourite films, but I'm not sure about him directing Wonder Woman - a big part of that is the fact that he wants Christina Hendricks to play Wonder Woman, and that seems like a huge miscast (her skin-tone, build, acting ability and voice all seem wrong for a character who's meant to be a warrior woman from a mystical Ancient Greek island)

Never thought of Rian Johnson for Green Lantern but he'd be a great choice - another contender would be Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) IMO.

Also not sure about Ben Affleck directing Batman. He's a fantastic director, and I think he was robbed by not even being nominated for an Oscar for Argo, and I loved The Town too, but something about him and Batman seems a bit mismatched, and I can't put my finger on it. Plus, it still seems way too soon to even be thinking of more Batman movies... he needs to rest for like 6 years at least.

Yeah, Kathryn Bigelow would be a good choice For WW.

@ACira Duncan Jones also pop on my mind, him or Rian Johnson would make a great GL film.

For Bat's, there a couple of directors I would like to see direct, Del Toro, Zack Synder and Guy Ritchie. Affleck would aslos be cool, but maybe too similar to what Nolan did.

Sorry to disagree, but I think Bigelow would be much better suited to Batman. Also, I really don't see why a man can't direct Wonder Woman. That's like saying a woman can't direct Superman.
For The Flash, I always thought that Tony Scott had all the right ingredients for that film. He's a master at Hi-Octane action, to the degree that he goes all punk with his movie cameras (like with Domino). And he has always felt the need for speed (as in Top Gun and Days of Thunder), but alas, the poor fellow is no longer amongst us, so... Edgar Wright?

I always liked the idea of Rian Johnson doing Batman, since he's a big fan of the character and Looper was amazing. Affleck wouldnt be bad though. As long as he doesnt play him. I mean it wouldnt be the worst thing in the world, but theres more people Id like to see first.

Good suggestions.

On your WW choice, no. NWR isn't a terrible choice, but I'd choose William Monnihan to write and Ridley Scott to direct. He created the greatest female action hero in Ripley and he also directed period pieces Kingdom of Heaven and Robin Hood. His experience in the field of creating worlds is unparalleled. His attention to detail is second only to a few directors in Hollywood who would be just too busy to direct a WW picture. Another great choice is, yes, Kathryn Bigalow. Her work with Jessica Chastain in ZD30 proved she knew how to direct an action movie with more behind it than anyone else.

On Flash, no. HELL NO. Flash would probably be a sci-fi heavy movie, possibly more than Green Lantern. The aspects like the Speed Force and characters like Zoom and Impulse, Mirror Master, Captain Cold, and even his origin dictates a director more like Rian Johnson or Duncan Jones. These two know how to deal with heavy sci-fi scripts.

I like your GL pick, though I think Johnson should be considered for Flash.

Batman, eh... I think that there are directors like David Fincher and Daren Arinofsky who would hop on like a bold of lightning for a shot at the Caped Crusader. After reading Arinofsky's Year One project, his take on Batman, though way too extreme, shows his love of Bruce.

@Geektality: Think about it though with Shawn Levy and The Flash. Sam Raimi was known for Evil Dead and never really did anything action oriented and he made great Spider-Man movies in the first two. Why can't a director with experience in action direct, The Flash? As as I in the article, Real Steel proves he can make a family, action film with good character development.

I always think The Flash is like Marvel's Hulk.
He's great when u teaming him up with another hero,
but kind a dull when he "run" solo..

everytime i watch "Children of Men",i always think Alfonso Cuaron IS the perfect guy to direct Batman movie.
Also,Ben Affleck said he would never touch CBM again...

Duncan Jones for Aquaman and Kat Bigelow for WW!!
