Fan Casting the Twelfth Doctor (Who?)

Fan Casting the Twelfth Doctor (Who?)

Posting only for fun and as a way to let out my anticipation for the Twelfth casting announcement coming in the following months. I love Smith but I also love change.

Let's be a little realistic in this post as well as in the comments so don't give me your Hiddlebatches or Cumblestons. Although, if you were about to say David Thewlis, you're right. That'd be perfect.

Here are my five choices for the Twelfth Doctor...

5. Damien Molony

He seems to be a popular choice. Not a bad look.

4. Warren Brown

Nobody's named him yet. He's up for work now, isn't he? I think he'd be a good transition with Clara as his first companion.

3. Thomas Lockyer

A change in pace with an actor of a different age. From the little I've seen him in, I think he'd bring the right blend of experience, youthfulness, and foreignness that the Doctor is known to have.

2. Ben Daniels

Much older and probably an unexpected choice but change is good, especially since this is Doctor Who. I was trying to keep away from choosing an actor with a rectangular typical hero-like jawline but the energy Daniels might bring would be worth it.

1. Lee Ingleby

My top choice is Lee Ingleby. He's unknown and, as the Doctor Who casting people look for, has performed the far ranges of personality from being hyper in Harry Potter to being straightforward and serious in MI-5.

Who do you want to pilot the Tardis?

But... But, Cumberbatch would be awesome! Okay :(

Anyway, I don't really know any of them, so I can't help you out there, sorry.

I'd go with someone bit older, like Eccleston. Andy Serkis?

Anthony Stewart Head is my choice for the doctor, he maybe a bit old but I would like to see him in the part.

I think we've had enough old Doctors to be honest. We need someone around Matt Smith's age now or the beginning. I feel an old doctor would be boring and become too dark. I want someone that can last a bit without breaking a hip running from cybermen.

@superdude001 Damien Molony would be pretty sick as the doctor and bring something new to the role. Daniels isn't so bad for an older doctor but gives me a dark Eccleston vibe. The anticipation is killing me I wanna who the 12th is already.

I'm still desperate for James D'Arcy to take up the mantle.

You guys seem to misunderstand the doctor and his "species." He gets wounded (this is from an abridged summary by the way), and he ages backwards as he recovers. So you have to go younger.

@MCott I've never heard that and I don't think that's what they look for when they cast but that sounds really cool.

Well you know I didn't know how they cast the doctor, but when I checked it out, I found this:

Within the series' narrative, the Doctor is a centuries-old alien, a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey, who travels in time and space in his TARDIS, frequently with companions. When the Doctor is critically injured, he can regenerate his body but in doing so gains a new physical appearance and with it, a distinct new personality.

Every time he regenerates, he gets younger.

Ok. No worries. Let me look it up again. There is room for doubt.
