Superman – The City of Tomorrow

The Storyline

Two months later of the events that resulted in the Justice League’s formation, a new extraterrestrial threat arrives in Metropolis to gather the world's knowledge and then to destroy the Earth. So the Man of Steel is summoned to fight alongside of the army’s new weapon against this extraterrestrial force called Brainiac.

Fancast

Cast

This event happens after of Superman & Batman – Alter Ego that it’s a sequence of Man of Steel (2013). So I reused the same cast of those stories.

From Man of Steel

From my Fancast: Superman & Batman – Alter Ego

New Characters

Keanu Reeves as Brainiac

I think that he’s a great choice for this role principally because of his deep husky voice and intense contemplative gaze. So I believe that he’ll play my version of this character very well. I considered Billy Crudup and Christopher Shyer but my final choice was Reeves.

Brainiac was a kind of kryptonian surveillance system that was constructed by Jor-El to alarm Krypton against future threats; however he acquired self-control and became obsessive by knowledge and began to collect information about the planet Krypton.
When he discovered about the imminent destruction of Krypton, he preferred to collect records of Krypton than warn the habitants about the damage. Because he believed that the knowledge was more important than the habitants' life.
But Brainiac realized that he needed of samples of living organisms of Krypton then he secretly created a weapon able to shrink anything.
Before the Krypton's destruction, Brainiac shrank and bottled the second most important city of Krypton, Kandor. So he transferred himself to a satellite and began your search to collect the knowledge and living samples at space.

Josh Lucas as John Corben/Metallo

I choose him because of his roles in The Lincoln Lawyer and A Beautiful Mind. I think that he’ll play this version of the character very well.

James Woods as General Sam Lane

I choose him because I think he is a good actor and I like his roles in the films. I believe that he’ll play my version of this character very well. He’s a veteran actor too.

Matt Frewer as Dr. Emmet Vale

I choose him because of his character in Watchmen film. I believe that he’ll play my version of this character very well.

Trivia

About the Story

** John Corben is a Sergeant that works under the command of the General Sam Lane that knows Corben since his teenager because the Sergeant was boyfriend of Lois Lane during the teenage.
** John Corben becomes Metallo after that his heart and body was critically injured during the second assault of Brainiac in Metropolis.
** Lex Luthor and his scientists, Dr. Emmet Vale and Dr. Emil Hamilton, are the responsible by the Metallo’s creation.
** The scientists use the radiation of the kryptonite as energy font for the Metallo because the kryptonite is more stable and strong than other radioactive minerals.
** Luthor shows Metallo as the true guardian of the humanity.
** When General Sam Lane enters in the secret files room, he sees three files about military armor: one file created by IRONS, J. H.; the second file by STONE, V. and the last is about the Metallo Project.
** Perry White says that he'll send one journalist to work in Gotham about the cyber terrorist called "The Puzzle or something else."
** Lois Lane asks Superman why his super friends don't help him with the Brainiac's attack. Superman says that every member of the League has autonomy in your actions. But he knows that the members will help him if it's needed.
** Lois Lane asks her father about her sister, Lucy. Sam says that she’s fine.
** Brainiac says that he already traveled in the darkest side of the universe where the planets are ruled by tyrants that have just two missions: The conquest.
** Brainiac manipulates the Corben’s mind and drives him to the madness. So Metallo becomes a kind of bodyguard of Brainiac and a main key for his plan.

Post-credits scene 1

Clark Kent is working in his office at Daily Planet alongside of Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen when the television announces a extraordinary news: The businessman Lex Luthor will be named candidate at the next presidential election.
His election slogan says: "For a world without masks. Vote Luthor."

Post-credits scene 2

After the end of the symbolic funeral of John Corben, General Sam Lane comes out his car and walks through a military cemetery on the rain. He walks until a grave with a memorial plaque. He stops in front the grave and pays his military respects. So he says:

- I'll never forget what you did for this world, for this country... (He stops to talk for a second and continues)... For me. It's too hard to accept them because I'll always remember of you, my old friends. Thanks.

The General goes away but the rain continues wetting the words on the plaque that says:

Keanu Reeves as Brainiac...wow, I've never thought of that before, and I'm a big fan of the idea now. Same goes to Josh Lucas as Metallo. Kudos! The story is fine, on the other hand, but you can actually tone down the usage of the word "the."
