Instead of what I'd like an ideal Batman movie to be, this will be what I think the rebooted take that will be featured in Man of Steel's sequel should be.
Man of Steel and the new show Beware the Batman have one thing in common that they both do perfectly: they both take the best bits and pieces of their characters' mythologies and mold them to make something brand new.
This post is inspired by The Dark Knight Returns, Earth One, TAS, Scott Snyder's work, and all Morrison Batman so imagine those tones applied to what you're about to skim.
Now that Batman will be in the same universe as Superman, we can capitalize on those characters' differences. Batman, not having powers, is much more technical and dependable on his own wits and detective skills.
As far as plot would go, I'll limit it to this. In response to what happened in Metropolis, I imagine Bruce is helping Lex out with construction of what is to come.
Karl Urban as Bruce Wayne/Batman
David Thewlis as Alfred Pennyworth
I'm looking for an Alfred who isn't too active but also isn't too proper like we're used to. More of a companion, almost an older brother, not an uncle.
Kenneth Branagh as Commissioner Gordon
I was having a tough time deciding whether he would make a better (Earth One-type) Alfred or Gordon but that mustache is inexcusable.
Stephen Graham as Lt. Bullock
Excuse me for casting so many British actors. It's what happens with these movies.
Sammi Hanratty as Barbara Gordon
Steven Mackintosh as Doctor Simon Hurt
I love Hurt. He might be one of my favorite Batman villains. He's similar to Moriarty, I think. Bringing him in could help introduce a side of Batman not explored on film.
Terry O'Quinn as Lex Luthor
Just a thought. Whoever it'll be, I'd like Lex to be older than Bruce and Clark in this universe.
