Over the past sixty years, we have seen the Batman portrayed in many, many ways. But, certain things have never changed. I'm sure you all know what I mean. If you don't I will hope you figure it out by the end of this article. Anyways, the way I look at it. The third installment of Chris Nolan and Christian Bale's Batman will probably be the last. Now, as much as I like them. Maybe it's time for a change. A different take on the Batman. I'm not saying change everything about him. His origin is great. His stories have always been great. But, there are a million different things we can do with these beloved characters while changing very little aspects of their origins.
Here's my proposal.
Bruce Wayne. Sitting at his kitchen table reading the newspaper, drinking a cup of coffee perhaps. Alfred in the background doing whatever. Still the same right? In walks Selina Kyle kissing her husband and pouring herself a cup as well.
walking through the outside door of the kitchen is tim drake. helena kyle in route behind him. conversations follow between the family. catching where i'm going with this?
Incorporate Dick living in a small house further down the property of the Wayne mansion, with his fiance Barbara and her retired father Jim. and its pretty much all there.
They would be the most infamous and richest family ever, yet no one would really know much about them. Aside from Bruce being a millionaire. Constantly in the news, on the tv. at special shows. and at night beating the hell out of bad guys together. Batman and Robin on one side of town stopping a bank robbery. the Huntress alone on the other assisting cops in a drug bust gone wrong. Night wing and Bat girl helping the local police force by "assistant body guarding" a public event. It sounds like a good idea to me. If you disagree. Tell me why. I love a good debate. Anyways. As always I will cast this. I've done so before. But it seems to have vanished for some odd reason. Anyways. Lets do it.
I'll obviously start with Batman. The infamous Dark Knight himself. The adopted "father" of Dick and Time" and actual father of Helena. He's a family man, and a business man, and a ninja. What could be better? All credit goes to Shaman for this one.
Moving on to the wife...Selina Kyle. Nothing will ever sound more right to me than this woman. She has that sleek look to her, and the face that says, I can totally kick your ass. While at the same time, she looks like she could make some mean scrambled eggs.
Helena Kyle, the daughter of Bruce and Selena(I know this doesn't go with the comics exactly, but dammit its my idea, lol.) Well, I've looked at all the options on this site. Shaman even had a poll over this one. My choice lost, and I don't care. I'm sticking with her. She, IMO, looks like she could be the love child of Adrian and Angelina. Plus, in anything I've ever seen her in, she's always had the attitude and the look to be an ass kicker.
Tim Drake. The third to don the red and yellow tights. As many of you know, there are few teen actors out there today that really stand out. That actually have talent, and the ones that do, usually aren't "actual" teens. Now, I've heard some mention the likes of Justin Chatwin for this role. I think he'd do a stellar job. But, he's always had a kid flash feel to him, IMO, or even Superboy depending on the route taken. In my opinion No one is more write for this part than...
Dick Grayson. The original Robin. All grown up, and looking to prove himself on his own. I can't remember who, and I apologize for that. But someone mentioned this guy in Rocky, and whereas I had already cast him for the part, what they said made it sound even better. I've seen him on Heroes a few times, and in a movie called Morgue, which is where I got the idea. I think he's got the perfect look, and the perfect attitude to give this part just what it needs.
and last but not least. Barbara Gordon. This one I had to think long and hard about. he he. sorry. But, ultimately I decided on Eliza Dushku, I think she would nail this role more than perfectly. and look I even got her as a red head.
and as for Jim Gordon. I actually loved Gary Oldman's portrayal of him, and would love to see him carry it for as long as he possibly can.
Whelp, that's it.
let me know what ya think.
