This fan cast is devoted to the Flash, specifically Barry Allen. When Warner Bros. does the Flash they have the opportunity to make it into a vast epic, like what Batman has become, and what Green Lantern could still be.
I would want the first two or three films to focus on Barry Allen, ending with his death (possibly in a Justice League film???) and having Wally West take over the mantle.
So here it goes...
This one I fully intend to receive quite a bit of flack for. But, hear me out. I recently saw "In Time", starring Justin Timberlake and I was completely floored by his acting. I knew he was a pretty good actor, from the film "The Social Network", but I had no idea how intense he could be. He is also capable of being light, like in the films "Bad Teacher" and "Friends With Benefits". I think Justin Timberlake would be perfect for Barry Allen and for the Flash.
Barry Allen in the first film I think should be, as in the comics, chronically late, and a bit-absentminded because he is trying to always catch up. I would want him and Iris to be dating for a while when the film starts, and have Barry ready to propose to her.
Which, of course, brings me to Iris West. I really like Rachel Bilson as an actress, from her work in "The Last Kiss", "Hart In Dixie", and "Jumper". I think she would prove to be an excellent Iris West.
In the comics, Fred Chyre and Jared Morillo are two police officers in Keystone City, where Wally West is located, not Barry Allen's Central City. However, for some sort of continuity, I would like for both Morillo and Chyre to be relatively new officers in Central City who at first distrust the Flash, and see him as nothing more than a vigilante.
Mark Valley is a familiar face to this site's fan cast world. He is best known for his work in "Human Target" and in "Boston Legal".
A lot of fan casts have Ejiofor as the Black Panther, but because he's not my choice for the King of Wakanda, I think he would be a great partner to Valley's Chrye as Jared Morillo. Chiwetel Ejiofor is known for his roles in "Children of Men", "American Gangster", and "Salt". I think him and Valley would have great chemistry as partners.
For me, the Weather Wizard makes the most sense for the first film. I think it would be a great way to test Barry Allen, by putting him against the nature's elements.
Sharlto Copley is a great actor, as seen in "District 9" and "The A-Team". I think he would be perfect as the violent weather manipulator who uses his brother's wand for his own purposes.
The film version of Jay Garrick would follow the comics pretty faithfully, basically a man given super speed a long time ago, but now over the years society has sort of forgotten he existed. I want him to find Barry and help guide him through his new found speed, and explain exactly what the Speed Force is to him. I think that would be a great way to set up the Professor Zoom in future films.
I don't think I have seen Timothy Dalton cast as Jay Garrick before. To me, though the choice makes a lot of sense. He has been James Bond in the films "The Living Daylights" and "License to Kill". Dalton is also known for his roles in the film "Hot Fuzz" and in the television world in "Chuck".
Patty Spivot is Barry Allen's assistant in the comics, and I would like to keep it that way for the film. She would have a schoolgirl crush on Barry, and be one of his closest friends.
Linda Cardellini has been in the two "Scooby-Doo" films as Velma, she has appeared in the film "Grandma's Boy", and starred in the show "Freaks and Geeks" with James Franco and Jason Segel.
Gregory Wolfe is the warden at the prison Iron Heights. I know that in the comics Iron Heights is located in Keystone City, and I would like to keep it that way, for continuity sake.
Denzel is a fantastic actor. He has been in the films "Training Day", "Remember the Titans", and "American Gangster". I think he would be great as the sadistic warden in Iron Heights, where I would want the Weather Wizard to be for a period in the film.
I see Wally West as a kid who idolizes his uncle Barry and wants to be just like him. By the time Barry dies (so about two or three films in) Wally should be full grown, but for now, being a younger child who appears for a little while is fine.
I know I've seen Ryan Kwanten cast before as Wally West, but I don't care. This guy has the right feel for Wally West and I think he would do great!
While he only will appear briefly in the film - when his brother Mark finds him and kills him for his wand - Clyde Mardon's death will be investigated by Barry Allen and the Central City Police Department.
Alan Cumming is a great actor best known for his roles in "X-Men 2", "Bernard and the Genie", and "GoldenEye". I think he would do well as Mark Mardon's brother who invents the weather wand and is murdered for it, which ignites the case for Barry Allen.
While I don't wish for Professor Zoom to appear in the first film, he will be alluded to, when discussing the Speed Force. For the next film though, Eric Bana would be awesome as Eobard Thawne.
CAMEOS:
While I was very disappointed with the Green Lantern film, I really enjoyed Ryan Reynolds' performance. I think if Warner Bros. figures out a really kick-ass script, we can get the space opera epic sequel.
When Mark Mardon escapes from the prison transport van to find his brother, I think it would be cool if Leonard Snart was with him, as they are both pretty weather related, and it could possible set up for another film, mostly as a nod to fans.
Well this is my cast, I hope you all enjoyed it! Comments are appreciated - good or bad.
