Hey guys hope your weekend is going good. I've been doing a lot of thinking the last week in my down time and I want to share afew things on nolans batman trilogy, the man of steel film, and the future of the dc universe.
First off I want to state that I'm a huge fan of the nolan batman films. I think its a cool concept of realism (though many things about the film aren't very realistic, harveys third degree burns for one and the fear toxin from begins.. alittle contradicting.)
These films were more like a far fetched crime drama. It wasn't really what batman was all about. I mean if you look closley, a lot of things strayed from the source material. And that's a great thing if you want to base it on realism(again I'm a big fan, not hating on these movies). Ras al ghul, the joker, and from what it looks like bane are straight up terrorists in these movies.
I guess what I'm trying to say is even if we want bale to appear next cavill(who's superman was noted to be in his own universe as well which I think is ridiculous if you ever want a crossover movie) it just won't mesh well. Its hard to put superman in the nolanverse where there hasn't been one real super natural villain/threat.
IMO I would really like to see zack snyder open his superman to the dc universe and not his own. I would also like to see him take on a "arkham asylum video game" influenced batman film. Basing the film closley to the game would make it easier to add the super natural aspects. Jokers origin, killer croc(not as big as the game) and the TRUE bane.
I loved watchmen. I know its long and boring but I think it was a well made film. The music, the visuals, it was perfect for what it was. When I first saw it in theatres the entire time I was imagining the JLA in this style and how batman, superman, and even darkseid would look if it were made like this. It was so dark and it was in a world were superheros were the norm. Not to mention billy cudrup as dr. Manhattan reminded me of martian manhunter.
I just think a batman reboot is definitley needed to crossover superheros. And a green lantern reboot is without a doubt! Needed. I haven't seen it, nor do I want to. TBH its ryan reynolds as gl that just annoys me. Not to mention the reviews I've read.
Dc and wb really need to be careful with there next step. Gl was suppose to do what iron man did for the mcu.
Let superman be part of a DC universe. Not a nolanverse-type spin off. Reboot the batman series to be more true to the unbelievable elements that make it as exciting as it is.
And dc don't just go around letting ANY director take on a cbm. We don't want a repeat of superman returns, batman and robin, green lantern, smallville(hated it, sorry guys lol) and we certainly want to prevent the kids of dawsons creek playing the justice league.(yeah this was a real plan for a jla adaption.)
Again, I love the nolanverse. But to make a dc universe or atleast a batman/superman movie to kick it off into future jla films(tower of babel would be cool live action. Leave it to batman to discover his new teammates vulnerabilies) it does indeed need to be rebooted. Or it will ruin the magic of what the nolan films were and nolans batman in a dc universe would take away from the magic that is a comic book based film.
This is my suggestion, what's yours?
