A guest on The Ellen DeGeneres show to promote her upcoming film Spy, Melissa McCarthy briefly discussed where things stand on her rumored involvement with the all female Ghostbusters film.  "I'm available. I've had run-ins with ghost and even if I haven't, I'll say i have.  I'll [just] say that I'm available for auditioning. "

According to previous reports, McCarthy's involvement with the project hinges on her busy filming schedule.  But is sounds as if she's a fan of the concept of an all female Ghostbusters team.  "It's the greatest idea ever. "

Other actresses rumored to be eyeing the project (or targeted by Sony) include Emma Stone, Rebel Wilson, Jilian Bell and Cecily Strong.   Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is currently attached to direct the project.

What exactly makes it the greatest idea ever. Ghostbusters is already a washed up idea at this point, but simply making it all female and adding stale jokes somehow makes it brilliant? Okay...

Christ, the first Ghostbusters wasn't even the greatest idea ever...only Bill Murray made it watchable (and it's still one of his worst movies). This will tank, worse than Green Lantern.

And the scary thing is I actually like McCarthy (on Mike and Molly, her movies suck).

@Doopie

Humanbusters? If its an all female cast perhaps Hymenbusters would be more adequate. It would explain all that ectoplasm.

"- WB has interesting candidate to first movie (placed between "JL: Part one" and "JL: Part two"). But this director is type of man... Eh.. it is difficult to work with him. He is not a “yes man”. His previous collaborations with a big studio ended badly. But again he fits and he is interested."

They take 2 decades to figure out a sequel or follow up or reboot and this is the garbage we get? What a joke...I usually don't cheer for reboots/sequels to fail but I want this one to crash and burn and make people wonder wtf they were thinking. What an absolute joke of an idea.

It doesn't have to be an all female team, times have changed. In the 80's it "had" to be all male because of sexism.
