THE RAID 3 Not Happening Anytime Soon

The Raid 3 won't arrive for quite some time according to director Gareth Evans. Did the sequel live up to the hype or was it a step back from the first Raid movie?

The Raid 3 will not arrive until 2018 at the earliest according to Gareth Evans.  "The Raid 3 is not going to be happening anytime soon. Ideas in my head. Nothing written. No set date. 2018/19 possibly."  It's reasuring that Evans has ideas for a third installment of the action film franchise but a lot can change in three years.  Perhaps Marvel comes knocking on his door for their Iron Fist Netflix series?  That would certainly get a lot of comic book and martial arts fans behind the project.  As far as the "ideas in Evan's head" for The Raid 3, he previously mused that if the The Raid 2 picked up two hours after the first film, it might be interesting if The Raid 3 started three hours before The Raid 2 finishes.

Currently, Sony is moving ahead with plans for an Americanized remake of The Raid with Patrick Hughes directing and Taylor Kitsch and Frank Grillo in the lead roles.

Raid: Redemption did not impress me.

Raid 2, however, was the bomb.

The first one was bloody awesome! Still need to watch the second one though and I look forward to that one.

TheRealIntruder - Oh definitely, although I doubt it'll happen. Especially since Evans wants it to be R-Rated and I doubt either Marvel or Disney is willing to release an R-Rated MCU movie. Maybe under Touchstone Pictures, but even then it has a small chance of happening.

@deuceexsponge - I mean the Netflix show. Which from what I read is that it will hover just below straight R

Loved The Raid. Waiting to watch The Raid 2, but i'm sure i'll love it.
Not thrilled by the idea of a watered down American Remake.

The Raid: Redemption was good, but The Raid 2: Berandal was brilliant film making and stepped up in every which way. Gareth Evans evolved from Squirtle to Warturtle.

The Raid is the Godfather of Martial Arts films? You must had never seen the Drunken Master series or the IP Man trilogy.
