Ryan Reynolds Calls Green Lantern "Star Wars In The DC Universe"!

The actor talks briefly about the scope of Green Lantern as well as how visually stunning it will be and shares his thoughts on working on such a big movie...

"Fans can expect a movie that has a scope and a scale unlike anything else," the actor told Parade in a recent interview when asked about his role as Hal Jordan in the upcoming movie. I think of it as Star Wars in the DC universe. I was blown away just visiting the art department on a movie like that; they should just do a film on that. It's like a trip to an amusement park that you wished existed."

Sounds like we're in for a visual treat then as previous reports have also indicated! Reynolds was then asked whether he finds it difficult to go from working on a smaller movie like Buried to a big budget epic like Green Lantern. "When you're in the trenches working on a movie, it's you and your director and you're talking about problems and problem-solving and that's the heart of filmmaking, I think. And it's the same whether you're on a $200 million budget or a $2 million budget."

Personally, I thought that Ryan Reynolds' performance in Buried was Oscar nomination worthy. I admit to having my concerns about the actor despite interviews like this one but I now have no doubt that Hal Jordan is in brilliant hands!

Green Lantern will be released on June 17, 2011!

@ Lee777 Im not so sure I would agree with the Thor Being the LOTR of comic movies, I really don't think we will see alot of Asgard as we want to :( The trailer they released at comic con was interesting but Im not for sure any comic movie could touch the Epicness and Beauty of lord of the rings, I hope Im proven wrong.

I also hope that The green lantern Doesn't turn out like Episode 1 lol But I have faith Green lantern is in Better hands than Thor I have a feeling thor will be a huge let down it was shot really quick, Hope to god im wrong and Thor is fn epic!

It'd be great if Snyder and Campbell could work together to cross over Superman and Green Lantern, it'd be a great thing for the fans and since Nolan is working with Snyder, get Batman into the mix as well. LOL.

I know it is highly unlikely but still would be a cool thing.

I'm so pumped for this. Reynolds is perfect for the part, even though so many people don't see that. Between this and Captain America - I can't wait for next year.

I just met Ryan 3 weeks ago at the Chicago premier of 'Buried'. Ryan and the director did a Q&A session with someone from AICN following the screening and Ryan couldn't have been a nicer guy. I absolutely loved the film and I too think Ryan deserves an Oscar - he had the weight of the entire film on his shoulders as the only person on screen. I can't wait to see him play Hal and I hope Deadpool happens soon :)
