The Jerry Seinfeld faithful will know how much of a fan of the big blue boy-scout he is - in fact it's common knowledge that Superman is mentioned or referenced in almost every (or is it every?) episode of Seinfeld. When the comedian posted an "ask me anything" Reddit forum, it didn't take long before someone asked his opinion on the latest big-screen outing for Kal El, Man Of Steel.
"I was so happy that they made another Superman movie! I'm really reluctant to be critical of it in any way. But I thought the glossing over of the figuring out a secret identity and why he felt he needed one was a huge missed opportunity for that character, and one of the most interesting things about Superman is the whole secret identity. So to me it was too much action / violence and not enough character study."
I agree that the secret identity thing is an important part of the Superman story, but not that it was a "missed opportunity". We've seen that come into play in all previous Superman movies and we knew from the beginning that Snyder and co. were going to go a different route - an origin tale that leaves the "Clark/Supes" secret identity dynamic open for exploration in future films. Anyway, just my take..what do you guys think? Agree with Seinfeld? Oh, and if you're a
Seinfeld/Curb Your Enthusiasm fan you may want to know that Jerry also says he and Larry David are working on something "big". Link below.
