With 2025's Fantastic Four, it seems fair to say there hasn't been this much excitement surrounding casting for a future MCU project since we learned Spider-Man would be part of Captain America: Civil War.
Everybody wants to know who will play Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and The Thing, and that's resulted in a huge number of rumours doing the rounds. In recent weeks, we've almost lost track of who is and isn't tied to the reboot, but there are some names which definitely stand out from the crowd.
In this feature, we put the spotlight on many of the names being considered for Fantastic Four, including the reboot's supposed lead villain. What makes these actors so special? Well, we believe they all have what it takes to do this fabulous foursome justice in the MCU.

8. Jason Segel
Rumours Jason Segel has been eyed to play Ben Grimm started relatively early on, though we haven't really heard anything since. On the surface, the Shrinking star may not seem like an obvious choice for The Thing, but this will primarily be a CG role akin to Thanos, and we think he'd do the hero justice.
Despite being burdened with losing his humanity as the rock-covered member of Marvel's First Family, The Thing retains much of his humour and has a big heart. With that in mind, and based on his past work, Segel clearly has what it takes to both deliver that and make "It's Clobberin' Time!" a convincing catchphrase.
7. Jodie Comer
After blowing everyone away with her work in Killing Eve, Jodie Comer proved she's every bit as capable of stealing the show in Hollywood blockbusters as she is in serious dramas with a starring role in Free Guy alongside Ryan Reynolds. It's no wonder then she's emerged as a frontrunner to play Sue Storm.
She definitely looks the part of the team's most powerful hero and is a casting choice everyone would surely be happy with. That's easier said than done these days, so Marvel Studios would be wise to bring Comer into the fold for a take on Invisible Woman that we're sure would leave a lasting impact.
6. Antonio Banderas
In the past three movies they've starred in, the Fantastic Four has been pitted against Doctor Doom. While we certainly hope to see Victor again, heading back down that route for this reboot would be a major blunder and rumours about the spotlight shifting to Galactus are very exciting indeed.
Apparently, Uncharted star Antonio Banderas is being lined up to bring the world-eating supervillain to life, and this feels like the perfect role for the actor to really sink his teeth into. Galactus eats worlds, but needs to be more than a giant guy in funny armour; Banderas can bring some necessary gravitas to the role.
5. Emma Stone
If recent rumours are to be believed, The Amazing Spider-Man and La La Land star Emma Stone recently declined the opportunity to play Sue Storm because Marvel Studios weren't willing to pay her what she wanted. If true, that's staggering, especially when the Oscar winner is such a powerhouse talent.
Her return to this genre would be celebrated by fans and a huge win for the MCU. A very good Gwen, Stone would make a great Sue and has the necessary toughness and sharp wit to make Invisible Woman the standout member of this team. Here's hoping talks end up resuming soon.
4. Mila Kunis
When photos of Mila Kunis meeting with Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman in Hollywood hit the tabloids, speculation immediately started running rampant that she might be talking to him about playing Sue. The Family Guy star doesn't look much like the character, but we think she'd exceed expectations in the role.
In recent weeks, there have been some wild claims that Kunis is, in fact, being lined up to play The Thing. We're not sure if that means Ben Grimm is about to become, uh, Barbara (?) or if Sharon Ventura is set to make an appearance. Either way, we'll take Sue over Yance Street's favourite hero in this instance.
3. Adam Driver
Adam Driver made for a phenomenal Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequels, even when the movies themselves let him down. Since then, he's taken on plenty of smaller projects, though the less said about his blockbuster return with sci-fi tale 65, the better. Now, though, he's reportedly a lock for Reed Richards.
As great as it would have been to see John Krasinski get another shot at playing Mister Fantastic, Driver is a far more exciting possibility. A quirky enough actor to make us buy into Reed being the smartest man alive, he also has the sort of on-screen presence to ensure we buy him as a superhero.
2. Daveed Diggs
Daveed Diggs stole the show in Hamilton but has since had mixed fortunes when it comes to finding a place in Hollywood. Snowpiercer, while entertaining, didn't really give him strong enough material to work with, though we're excited to hear his take on Sebastian in The Little Mermaid remake this weekend.
Half-Jewish, there's absolutely no reason Diggs can't play the MCU's Ben Grimm, and it sounds like he's definitely in the mix. The actor's take on the native New Yorker would no doubt be incredibly authentic, while he'd also ensure The Thing has enough charisma to be more than just an orange Hulk in the MCU.
1. Margot Robbie
We've highlighted some truly, well, fantastic actresses in this feature. However, as soon as Margot Robbie's name emerged as a contender to play Sue Storm, it immediately felt like Marvel Studios will struggle to cast anyone better. Yes, she's the DCU's Harley Quinn, but does that really matter?
The short answer is "no." Robbie can do something totally different as the Invisible Woman and brings both the required star power and talent to ensure Sue doesn't wind up being overshadowed by her teammates. The actress looks the part and is just what this franchise needs to be embraced by moviegoers again.
