Miles Teller Talks About Portraying 'Mister Fantatsic''s Powers In FANTASTIC FOUR

Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot has been causing a lot of controversy, something which was evident after more details about the movie found their way online yesterday. Empire Magazine also caught up with Miles Teller to talk about what to expect from his take on Reed Richards, and it definitely sounds like he'll be as smart as his comic book counterpart! "It was good talking with our advisors on set, whether it's the quantum physics stuff or biomechanics," he says. "I always want to know enough about the stuff before I say it. But I'm on layman's terms with the science. I'm a layman's Reed Richards!" Don't take that too literally folks! As for how fans should expect to see Mister Fantastic's powers portrayed in this version, it does sound like it will be a little less cartoonish than the previous movies and the comics. "If he's this gummy guy slinging around, it looks ridiculous," the actor claimed before adding: "What does that feel like for a young guy, to have no control over his body?" What do you guys think?

I'm more worried about the writers getting the science right, then how he delivers the lines.

So when a young guy expand his body part, Teller calls it quantum physics.
Singer calls it "audition". Heey hoo!

Reed BETTER become a villain! It's the only way to validate this direction.

By the way, this concept that some how this movie will be more based in real science is patently absurd. Either we have a guy in the movie that can stretch and form shapes like the comic OR we watch a movie that believes

". . . If he's this gummy guy slinging around . . . looks ridiculous . . ."

Obviously he and Trank have discussed this and either Teller has drank the kool-aid, or he's been in total agreement from the start. Either way, if we go the faithfulness to since route, we can't have superhero movies.

That being said, I am looking forward to this film, ESPECIALLY if Reed becomes a villain and they FULLY embrace the "ultimate" nature of their origins. STOP pretending this has anything to do with Stan and Jack's creation.

" with flying beings, with projectile throwing capabilities, and with no forced comedy"

so, like MoS? but, you know, actually good :P

PS: I'm just kidding.

Every bit of news from this movie is such a letdown that MCU haters have to come and take shots defensively.
If the movie is good, it's good. But if it sucks, no amount of MCU trolling can make up for it.

I'm REALLY curious to see how they pull off Reed's powers well without making it seem cartoon-ish or funny.

@Jollem

YEAH! All "ultimate." ALL DAY! Make Reed the villain!

Even though your intended point is to show the comic book faithfulness to the source material (with the illustration above), it would have made your case IF the movie-still looked ANYTHING like the costume (OTHER than the Member's Only inspired short sleeves they do both have on). The movie version of Mara's ensemble is using the standard X-Men black motif so as to hide the fact that this is SUPPOSED to be a superhero movie (actually, it's supposed to be THE superhero movie based on the heroes that saved the comic book industry waaaaaay back in the sixties).

Well I guess I'll have to wait for a Plastic Man movie then. Or maybe Elongated Man will be on The Flash. Sorry Trank if the Fantastic Four's powers are "too cartoony".

so, is cool to hate on the MCU now? sure, hate on the thing that made the upcoming DCCU possible in the first place.
