ABC reviewer calls Sucker Punch "trash" and "harmful to the mind"

A movie critic for ABC 7 calls Sucker Punch "trash" and asks what kind of sick mind would make a movie based on violence towards women.

As Zack Snyder's epic "Sucker Punch" hits theaters today, the reviews throughout have been mixed. However, it was the review by one Sandy Kenyon seems to be a little too harsh. He begins the review by saying that he "despises" the film. Throughout the review, he briefly touches on the plot, by saying the film is not like woman empowerment like advertised but instead is a film based around women getting beat up.He goes on to call the film "garbage," the acting "bad" and other generic criques. However, what makes this review so interesting is that half of the review is Kenyon questioning the MPAA and its PG-13 rating and that the film is so immoral that it will warp the minds of any young viewers and that parents should be warned. Kenyon also cites another critic who called for the Director's Guild to revoke Zack Snyder's membership.

So why report on this review, you ask? Because it seems unjust. Sandy Kenyon seems like he doesnt understand that all of the glorified violence and dumb cliches are all in the protagonists mind. He also doesnt seem to understand that violence towards women, while tragic, shouldnt justify an R rating or is something to "hide our children from". Ive personally seen the film, and I think Zack Snyder should sucker punch Sandy Kenyon

He makes it sound like A Clockwork Orange. He is obviously an old man and a fool! And I don't think this movie is to be overly review and inspected. Just watch it and just enjoy it for what it is, which is a movie.

I saw this awhile ago as well and lost all respect for Sandy Kenyon as a critic. I have not yet seen the movie, I want to, but I know not to expect anything other than a visual spectacle. And I'm cool with that. Not every movie needs a deep, analytical story to be good. All movies at their core are entertainment and I'm sure Sucker Punch delivers at least that much. Kenyon sounded like a typical poltician or ignorant parent who complains video games are too violent and will affect children's mental stability. With all the things that I find worse, and easily available on television (Jersey Shore anyone?), it's going to be one movie that has adverse affects on a child? Please.

Everyone is saying this movie is terrible, but critics need to keep their personal views and feelings out of it and just review the movie based on its merrits.

Actually, the audience reaction has been positive. Sometime Moviegoers and Critics disagreed.
Thats what happened with TF2 to an extent.

saw the movie on opening night. it was kind of like the last airbender. it was visually stunning but the acting/plot/characters were below average. (i liked it better than last airbender though!). but all in all it was pretty disappointing

Critics try and rate films, on the most idiotic stuff. A dark film for being to dark, a action film having to much action... Seriously, who cares about the plot, in a film like this? Just look at the action and enjoy it.

I was actually bothered by the insituation of child rape and what not. If you've seen it you'll know what I'm talking about... Action and visuals were good but this movie just shows how bad of a storyteller Snyder is. Glad Nolan and Goyer are writing Superman

P.S. The mOvid was pretty crap. Im mad a spent money to see it
