In the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe. But it is Harry Potter who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort.

Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, check out the critics' words below:

Todd McCarthy (The Hollywood Reporter's chief film critic):

"It ends well," he wrote. "After eight films in 10 years and a cumulative global box-office take of more than $6.3 billion, the most successful franchise in the history of movies comes to an obligatory -- and quite satisfying -- conclusion in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2."

"This is an exciting and, to put it mildly, massively eventful finale that will grip and greatly please anyone who has been at all a fan of the series up to now," he wrote. "If ever there was a sure thing commercially, this stout farewell is it."

Phillip Womack (UK's Telegraph):

"Perhaps the greatest triumph of this final film is its ability to overcome the deficiencies of J.K' Rowling’s writing," he wrote. "In the last Harry Potter volume, she failed singularly to muster the epic feel needed; as a result, on the page, the concluding battle at Hogwarts was a damp squib. But Yates here transmutes it into a genuinely terrifying spectacle, as bloodied students fight desperately against a horde of screaming black-robed Death Eaters."

Grant Rollings (UK's The Sun):

"It's an epic movie dust-up with schoolkids and a handful of good witches and wizards fighting to the death against seemingly superior forces of evil," he wrote. "Imagine a more spectacular battle than that of Helm's Deep in Lord of the Rings. It is dizzying and thrilling, even before the story reaches the monumental climax between the brave orphan and Ralph Fiennes' noseless fiend (villain Voldemort)."

His only quibble was with the cast, saying star Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) is capable of better acting and that Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) haven't shown any improvement over the past three years. Yet he praises Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), who "steals their thunder."

They are saying that the final battle is better than the battle at Helms Deep?! HOLY HELL! I hope it lives up to that statement! haha, because that is an AMAZING battle.

Matthew Lewis stealing ANYONE's thunder??? That surprises me way more than any comparison to Helm's Deep's battle. I mean, you can appreciate Longbottom's character all you want but as an actor, IMO Lewis was the worst part of ANY chapter in the film series. Crookshanks gave a more convincing performance.

the kid playing draco malfoy (tom something...) has been stealing EVERYONE'S thunder since the third film. at least as far as the kiddie actors are concerned.

thwip- I most definitely agree! Second place i'd give to Emma Watson though. I think she improved greatly from the first film through to the first chapter of the DHs. But any other of those child actors i find pretty forgettable TBH, especially Matthew Lewis and whoever plays Ginny Weasley.

one of the best adapted stories to film, reason it was done in 2 parts, part 1 was really good, solid acting by all and the story was nicely laid out in a detailed manner, loved the part of 3 brothers story.

part 2 is bound to kick ass and by the looks of the trailer this will be the best of the best of harry potter films.

I totally disagree with the guy who said there are deficiencies in JK Rowlings writing. I couldn't have asked for a better ending for the book IMHO and I thought the writing was great. The books have ALWAYS had a different feel to them then the movies. The ending in the book is perfect for the book. I'm sure this will be a great ending and battle for the movie version.
