Immortals Is Like Star Wars Says Stephen Dorff

One of the stars of the Tarsem Singh directed Greek mythology movie shared his thoughts on 3D technology and working with the director.

While he was out promoting his latest film 'Somewhere', the Blade actor who plays Cavill's sidekick Stavros in the movie, made Star Wars comparisons and talked about the recent trend of 3D movies.



Immortals is kind of like, if you look at the Star Wars set up it’s kind of like I’m Han Solo, Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) is Princess Leia, this kid Henry Cavill plays the young Theseus and we kind of go after this evil king played by Mickey Rourke,” said Dorff. “It’s a sword and sandal movie, but I think it will be quite different. I think we will do justice to the 3D world as opposed to one of these films that are just converted to get on the bandwagon. Tarsem shoots 3D when it wants it to be in 3D, he shoots real 35 (mm) when he wants it to be in 35. It should be a visual splendor that will hopefully deliver something more than the normal film.


Immortals will be released on November 11 later this year.

Remember when they said Titan A.E. was like an animated Star Wars? Or when Fifth Element was supposed to be the next generations Star Wars? The closest thing to Star Wars is the Wizard of Oz.

That being said none of these movies are like Star Wars. Star Wars will always stand alone. Now, if Ryan Reynolds would have said that Green Lantern is like Beverly Hills Cop in a Star Trek universe I might have bought that. If Stephen Dorff would have come out and said Immortals is like Dorff on Golf thrown into Clash of the Titans with a sprinkle of future Supes and a dash of Whiplash I am all over that.

Just so you know, guys, my post is like Star Wars.

first of all, 300 was not the first movie of its kind nor was it the best. second, tarsem singh is one of the guys snyder GOT his visual style from, not the other way around. and third, HE NEVER SAID THE !@#$%ING MOVIE WAS THE SAME AS, AS GOOD AS, OR BETTER THAN STAR WARS. AND NEITHER DID RYAN REYNOLDS.

they are using star wars as an example to compare SPECIFIC IDEAS. reynolds was saying GL's got a "lots of planets and aliens" thing going on, and dorff was just saying immortals has a similar setup of main characters.

and for the record, star wars is NOT ORIGINAL. star wars was it's era's avatar... a blatant ripoff of several stories from several genres, with amazing visuals that made everybody not care that it lifted the entire plot.

lucas copied tons of stuff from GL, starting with the whole !@#$%ing interspecies, intergalactic police corps concept.
