Peter Jackson to Direct The Hobbit

According to Deadline.com, Peter Jackson WILL be directing the two-part Hobbit films.

Notes Deadline, "In what amounts to a dream come true for fans of Middle Earth, Peter Jackson has decided to direct two installments of The Hobbit, trusted sources are telling me. His deal is being negotiated right now with Warner Bros , New Line and MGM. He will shortly take the reins over from Guillermo del Toro, after extricating himself from other project obligations that caused Jackson and manager Ken Kamins to initially deny he would be the director. While Jackson’s camp has been tight-lipped, I’m told that Jackson as director has been part of the discussion in trying to get MGM’s owners to do what is needed to make the back-to-back films possible for an end of the year shoot."

No question he can do it. My only concern is that he doesn't second guess his own decisions and play it safe. He didn't want to direct these and have himself compared against LOTR in the 1st place.

You know, Betty, I can't win with you guys. I do links to Earth's Mightiest, I get crap. I post a news story here, I get crap (even if it's within the veneer of a compliment). Make sure you check out the link to my exclusive with Freida Pinto regarding Rise of the Apes, I'd hate for you to miss another opportunity.

I dont know what Jackson's deal is when he says he doesn't want the hobbit to be compared up to LOTR under his belt.... is he afraid of the Hobbit not being better? He should embrace the challenge knowing he will do even better with these two new films!

Frikkin awesome! As much as I like Del Toro, I like the idea of Jackson doing this even more, he rocked the LotR run.

Taboo13 - Remember, a swift kick to the jibblies will make any guy stop long enough for you to jet and a pair of finger to the eyescan do some good as well.

Anybody else seen Hard Candy? That movie rocks.
