The Hobbit Graphic Novel

The Hobbit Graphic Novel

The Hobbit books have tended to be very wordy and a bit cumbersome. However - the Hobbit Graphic Novel is completely the opposite.

Book, 144 pages, Harper; Graphic Novel Ed edition (7 Aug 2006)

This illustrated paperback is the revised edition, complete with beautifully drawn, full colour images that have been rescanned recently.
A perfect intoduction to the world of Tolkien for younger readers, The Hobbit Graphic Novel stays true to the original and delivers a wonderful visual representation of Tokien's The Hobbit.

To basically sum up The Hobbit Graphic Novel, I'd say it's a fancy cartoon book. But - that would be unfair to the extreme. Whilst it is a cartoon book, it's a beautiful representation of Tolien's Hobbit and for a younger reader it's quite simply a fabulous introduction to the world of Middle Earth.

The book is pretty faithful to the original book and it's an amazingly good swords and sorcery romp and above all a cracking read, whatever the format. However, it's the beautifully rendered imagery that sets this novel apart from any other of it's type. I'd recommend it to anyone who is buying a gift for a younger reader as it would be eagerly received. Just make sure you have a spare afternoon as once your young reader starts, they won't stop reading it until it's all been completed and gobbled up!

I own a copy of this as well. Its not to bad for a short read, but the cartoons still my favorite "form" of the story.
