Thorin Oakenshield Actor On The Final HOBBIT Prequel Film

Now titled, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Thorin Oakenshield actor Richard Armitage teases an epic conclusion and a "couple of big surprises" in the final installment of the Hobbit prequel saga.

"It's going to be quite a nostalgic event I think. It's going to be 15 years of seeing Middle Earth on the big screen, the culmination of Peter Jackson's life's work. I think the Battle of the Five Armies" is something that I can not wait to see." And over at On The Red Carpet, Armitage stated, "There's a couple of big surprises. The one thing I'm really looking forward to is seeing the Battle of the Five Armies. I think it will be probably quite a cinematic event." The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will open in US theaters on Decemer 17th.

Never has a story not needed three movies then the hobbit. Both movies were bore fests because of this in my opinion thought the second was slightly better. I could see two movies but three is insane and boring

Oh yeah, because The Hobbit has blatant racism, full-grown men wearing thongs, a pathetically under-though yet overly complicated plot, characters you can't tell who's who when fighting, a total lack of charm, teenagers going on adventures with incredibly super model-like underdeveloped girlfriends, and a cut throat film director willing to nearly kill his actors at any chance he can just for a cheap action shot.

Oh yeah, anyone would want all that instead of a fun, wholesome series of fantasy films.

@crimsonflash, i agree to a certain extent. if it was just one film,it would have been one of the best films ever made. then again, WB wouldn't have been able to make 3 billion dollars with just the one. so we get three instead.

Comparing The Hobbit with Transformers is a bit too harsh. Still I'm really not very happy about what Jackson did with the adaptation.

Martin Freeman is probably the only redeeming aspect of this series. It's a crying shame that such a perfect Bilbo was wasted in these films. I don't know what happened but PJ lost his goddamn mind. I'll see the final installment but I can't believe I'm not looking forward to it.

Actually, in the movie world, the Hobbit trilogy are prequels. They are made and released after LOTR, yet take place beforehand. That is the definition of a prequel. When the source material was written is inconsequential.

Yeah, Martin Freeman is definitely the highlight of this trilogy so far. And the Hobbit movies are terrible, but I'm loathe to say that Transformers is any better. They're not even comparable: different genres, different directors, different source material, different...everything. It's rotten apples to rotten oranges. They both are pretty bad.

I expect more over the top cartoony action with the dwarves and elves and I expect more Benny Hill inspired chase scenes. Really beyond Freeman and Armitage nothing about the films have been good. Even Ian McKellen looks old and tired in these movies so I will definitely not be seeing this movie in the theaters and may catch it as a red box rental when it hits dvd.

Pretty much agree with most of the criticisms others have said here. And it's really sad that this will be the very last Peter Jackson Middle-earth film...and I honestly couldn't care less. This is absolutely nothing compared to my feelings when The Return of the King was about to be released, before a Hobbit trilogy was even close to being a reality. Now, I can't wait for this trilogy to be over.

Yeah, to comparing Peter Jackson with Michael Bay is a blatant move of people which don't know shit about cinema. The only explanation for such an atrocity, is to become an attention whore.

I mean, c'mon... i'm not a big fan of this new Hobbit trilogy, Jackson lost great portion of his touch yeah, but thank the gods that opinions are not facts, but just opinions.

Gotta agree with the comments made about how boring I thought these movies have been.
Really, it shouldn't have been split into 3 movies. How can you have the entire LOTR trilogy be only 3 movies (totaling around 9 hours) but have the Hobbit, which was a single book, be split into 3 movies (9 hours for 1 book) as well?
