As production is gearing up, the Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor-duo-directed Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance cast is increasing with The Hollywood Reporter reporting that THOR's Idris Elba and The Dark Fields's Johnny Whitworth are in negotiations to join.

"Elba plays an alcoholic warrior monk tasked with finding Ghost Rider. Whitworth plays a criminal who is recruited by the devil to find the boy and is later turned into a demonic creature."

As mentioned before, the sequel's story sees Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, hiding out in remote Eastern Europe and struggling to repress his curse. Blaze is recruited by a sect to take on the devil (Ciaran Hinds), who wants to take over his mortal son’s body on the kid’s birthday.

With Nicolas Cage back as the demonic biker anti-hero, and Ciaran Hinds & Violante Placido already on board, the film is set to begin shooting in late November in Romania and Turkey. And the sequel currently has a 3D release scheduled for February 17, 2012.

I'm actually one of the few people who are willing to give Nic the benefit of a doubt. I think this movie will be awesome.

I ABSOLUTLEY hated the first one, but with Cage doing Kick-Ass, seeing what he can do now, I think we could have a nice gritty R-rated CBM on our hands.

@ironknight

I know right, The Losers, Thor, maybe Luke Cage, and now this! He's turning into Evans!! LOL

The first one sucked major donkey balls... I'm not a Nick Cage fan but he was good in "Knowing" but this movie I don't know like I said I didn't like part one.

But whatever it is what it is.... I doubt I'll see it in theaters anyway.

I think we're getting to the point were comic book/superhero movies are so prevalent/lucrative, that if an actor limits himself to just one role, he's missing out on alot of jobs.

@gambitfreak

i doubt he will be Luke Cage since his already playing as Heimdall and that character not share the same Universe as Marvel Studio Cinematic Universe that they creating with Iron Man, Thor, Cap, Hulk. him starring in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is not a big deal since its at a different studio.

@telavizion

i remember they had budget issue for some special fx and stunts. the director for the first movie put his own money so that an action sequence of Ghost Rider battles a helicopter could be made.

Well, Mr Elba really does like his CBMs eh? Our gain if you ask me, he's a great actor.

Still doesnt like the sound of this movie!:/... I mean the actors are great (Specially Elba, who by the way is going to play Alex Cross from James Patterson´s books in new movie called Cross), but so far the storyline s*cks!

The more i heard about this, the more i'm genuinely interested. And that means ALOT since the first film is tied with Elektra and Catwoman as being the very worst CBM, ever since the new CBM era that started with X-Men.

Nic Cage was the man in Wickerman. Awesome awesome flick. Need to get the writers of that one to handle this script.

and few others are Nics Greatest Movies....

I assume Johnny Whitworth is going to be Vengence?
Recuited by the Devil...im sure he will be the new version of Johny Blaze the Devil use to get the boy.

I like Ghost Rider.
It was entertaining. I actually thing that if we comic book movie fans made a movie it would suck to everyone but us.

it would be too long, over complicated way to many back stories.

So when i see a studio made CBM I can understand them making it to a brauder audience and watering down the story.

Bat Man and Dark Knight are the best out, as far as comic book and regular people enjoying it goes.

My problem with the first film was the action sequences. The fights were all really short and simple. I don't know if this had to do with budget issues or reshooting issues or what, but hopefully this movie does the action a bit better.

Nic Cage is a good actor, IMO.
