The first live-action
G.I. Joe movie was definitely more "miss" than "hit" with fans and critics alike. However, its sequel,
G.I. Joe: Retaliation, had more of a balanced number of detractors and supporters. It also earned $375.75 million dollars worldwide on a $130 million dollar production budget. Naturally, Paramount is working on a third installment and have hired Evan Daugherty (
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
Snow White and the Huntsman) to write the sequel. So in the third outing, we'll have a new scriptwriter and [probably] a new director. While the creative talent will be changing over, most of the actors are expected back, including Bruce Willis and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and there are even unconfirmed rumors that Channing Tatum's Duke will also be brought back for a third entry [somehow]. S
peaking to Collider to promote Hercules, Johnson shared:
"Yeah, yeah. Well, the idea is that we would start shooting G.I. Joe in January, in the first quarter of next year. That’s the idea. Look, I love Jon, and I think he did a great job. I get it. He had to go on and do something else. By the way, maybe…[He] could be [finished with Jem and the Holograms], right? [Currently] we’re still looking [for a G.I. Joe 3 director], yeah."
If Chu is indeed not coming back for G.I. Joe 3, who do you want to direct?
