Did SUICIDE SQUAD Director David Ayer Just Confirm He's Still Helming GOTHAM CITY SIRENS?

It was reported yesterday that David Ayer was no longer attached to take the helm of Gotham City Sirens but a new social media post from the filmmaker seems to say otherwise! Find out more after the jump!

It was just yesterday that we heard Warner Bros. and David Ayer may have parted ways on Gotham City Sirens, a movie which wasn't even mentioned by the studio at Comic-Con. Well, the filmmaker is clearly keen on dispelling those reports as he's now taken to Twitter to share the Harley Quinn image below.

While this isn't exactly confirmation he'll be returning to the DC Extended Universe after directing the critically panned but commercially successful Suicide Squad, it definitely feels like a response to that. Margot Robbie reportedly pushed for this movie to be made and the studio won't want to upset her so chances are it will indeed happen. It still has no release date, though, so who knows when that will be!

Do you guys want to see Gotham City Sirens become a reality? For that matter, will it ever really happen? As always, feel free to share your thoughts on this in the comments section down below.

@Jaspion -
LOL!
Literally the same thing i said once i read the headline! XD

Listen, if we can get the "old Ayer" and not the one in Suicide Squad, i'm actually ok with this.
Whatever, man...

This movie is never getting made. File it in the same folder with Cyborg, Deadshot, and Gambit.

@Mumbo - Well if Harley is not part of the team, Suicide Squad 2 is basically a Deadshot movie.

What's that twitter feed mean?
Any other film directors can put a pic like that up with no explanation underneath it, so what does that mean then?...

@Darlene1974 - Imagine you're a director and the news of Mashable is true, it's already humiliating to be out of a project because of a shit you did (suicide squad)

Why the hell are you going to post a teaser that you are still attached to the project ? ^^

As long as it's not true about Catwoman being an Ex-Cop and Ivy not having any plant powers.

@TheCoon - that's absurd! What's next, a batman that scares children in dark alleys? A ghetto-fabulous joker?

OH.

Oh godammit. Wtf is wrong with these people.

This video actually reminds me of my one issue with the movie (and before someone calls me out for being nitpicky and/or childish... I know I am. Just let me have this).

The first trailer for the movie probably got me more excited for it than anything else marketing-wise, and a large part of that was the song they used.

I absolutely [frick]ing love that song. I listened to it on a loop for months after the trailer dropped, and I couldn't wait to see how they used it in the movie. And... they didn't. And they had the perfect scene to use it in: the scene where Rocket is [frick]ing with the Ravagers in the forest. And Nebula calls him a "fox" a few minutes before that scene happens, and so the scene is (kind of) a scene of a "fox on the run". You could've put the song RIGHT THERE. And they didn't! What the [frick]!?

And who knows? Maybe they tried it with the song and it just didn't work (and to be fair, the scene still works with the song they used). But still, it was pretty disappointing.

@MUTO123 - I dont even remember when they used that song in the movie, but southern night is also pretty well placed in the scene you're talking about

@malsemarcel - They didn't use it in the film.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I don't blame Ayer for SUICIDE SQUAD, that would be fiasco for ANY director to shoot a movie off of a quarter of a rough draft of a script that had to be rushed out to make a deadline, and not even be allowed to edit the final project.

His track record from past films show he can tell a good story and have an all around compact movie, with visual and heart to kick.

I'm just saying I'd be up for seeing his unadulterated take on a DC project, particularly with Harley and Katana, they need more justice done for them.

@TheSoulEater - I said this yesterday, but rushed or not, that script had ideas that don't belong in any script. It should only take about a quarter second to realize some of that shit was a terrible idea.
