Earlier this week, it was reported that Gotham City Sirens had been scrapped by Warner Bros. as they instead focused on a standalone origin story for The Joker set away from the DC Extended Universe and a movie teaming up the Clown Prince of Crime with Harley Quinn. Well, the confusion continues as a studio insider has reportedly told Forbes that the female led spinoff remains in the pipeline for them.
"Harley, Catwoman and Poison Ivy are super important to us– And a super cool team, too!" they tell the site, promising that it hasn't been cancelled. The site goes on to speculate that The Joker/Harley Quinn movie - which they seem to suggest will be titled Mad Love - is going to bring the love story between the two villains to an end, paving the way for Harley to work with Catwoman and Poison Ivy.
For now, we're going to have to wait and see but David Ayer's involvement with Gotham City Sirens remains up in the air and we still don't know how Suicide Squad 2 factors into all of this. We'll be sure to keep you updated but it's clear we're getting a lot of Joker on the big screen in the next few years.
