Early Word On Green Hornet Is Very Positive

Those that have seen the previews can't actually review the movie yet, but word has slipped out that Michel Gondry's Green Hornet has defied expectations and managed to be..pretty damn good!...

Early screening of Green Hornet have been happening at various venues in various countries since last week. Those that attended are not permitted to review the film yet, but that hasn't stopped em from revealing whether they enjoyed it or not!

When it was announced that Seth Rogen would be playing Britt Reid(The Green Hornet) many people already wrote it off, assuming that Director Michel Gondry must be spoofing it up. Then some pretty cool shots revealed a slimmed down, quite serious looking Rogen. That was followed by some very good trailers that suggested a slightly comedic approach, but no more so than many action orientated films doing the round these days. Still some felt that the movie would miss the mark. Well, I haven't seen it so I can't confirm or deny that, but some net folks have revealed to me that they have never been more pleasantly surprised by a movie. Here is just one glowing..ummm, "endorsement" of The Green Hornet..

Now, I can't review GREEN HORNET in any real detail. I'd like to. In fact, if I were to write it up with any real specificity this would be the longest of these reviews. But I feel i must say this. Although this is being released in January, traditionally a dump-month for the studios, I must insist that this isn't a dump kind of film. I have no idea what kind of box office this will make. But this was for me the most pleasant surprise of all the premieres at BNAT. I really, really loved THE GREEN HORNET, and all I can say to you is that I urge you to see it with an open mind and and prepare to have a metric [frick]-ton of fun with it. I'm not bullshitting saying this, not trying to get into anyone's good graces. An honest assessment of THE GREEN HORNET - it's really [frick]ing good.

This comes courtesy of Nordling over at AICN, who watched the movie as part of their annual BNAT(Butt-Numb-A-Thon). I realize this is just one guys opinion, but I have heard from some fairly like minded people from other sites that its every bit as good as this dude above reckons.

Green Hornet stars Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz, Christoph Waltz, Edward James Olmos, David Harbour, Tom Wilkinson, and directed by Michel Gondry and hits theaters January 14, 2011.

Looking forward to it, it's a long wait till May, need something to tie me over! Fortunately, I got myself an education and a good job, I can afford to see all these movies 10 times if I like. I don't mind wasting a few bucks on a so-so movie. Except Ghostrider, I still am not over that nitemare!

We know how one person's opinion can be. I need to hear a lot more than a single opinion on this. The trailer still tells me that Seth plays the normal dorky persona he usually does. Not my idea of the Green Hornet

I always planned to see this anyway. I don't like the casting of Rogan as the Green Hornet but, as an actor, he has been good in Pineapple Express, Knocked Up and Superbad. Christoph Waltz is a great actor and Jay Chou looks impressive in the trailer.

I already hate this Movie more than those who's from whoville. Them and all thier merrinessness!..

Nah j/k
The effects actually look pretty good. The only problem i have with the trailer, was being disappointed with Seth Rogan being Seth Rogan.. Then I saw him on "Conan" and he was a complete moron. I mean i get being funny and ridiculous on the show, but when somebody then says "and how was it working with this director?" and all you can say is stuff about balls?! that doesn't inspire much positive interest in the movie. I thought, "This is the guy who wrote the script?! I'm suprised he knows how to breathe!"

I'm actually really, really excited for this one! Mainly because Gondry is attached. I think I'd watch him film paint dry and still mildly enjoy myself.

Every time someone says this movie is good, I'm going to die a little inside.

Liking movies like this is why we get sooooo many crappy movies out of Hollywood.

On the other side of things, I saw my first two episodes of Declared last night. Rogen fits into the group atmosphere much better than he does as a leading man

i never really had any doubts with seth rogen being apart if this production...asnd im glad to hear that this person liked it...bc now i'll have something to look forward to. Because i thought it would at least be mediocre however thats spelled. and seth is very good apatow saw something in this kid when he was well a kid haha by the way his role in pineapple express was more the serious type it was only funny bc of the situation they had been in, his skill showed in that movie its a shame franco and mcbride out shined him so lets hope this is a good one like i hoped i know kato wont out shine him
