GREEN LANTERN And STRANGE ADVENTURES Live-Action TV Shows In The Works For HBO Max

Exciting news for Green Lantern fans here, as it's just been announced that a live-action TV series based on the popular DC Comics hero is being developed for HBO Max.

The show will be produced by Greg Berlanti, who actually co-wrote the much maligned GL movie starring Ryan Reynolds back in 2011. The prolific DC TV producer will also work on a new Strange Adventures anthology series for the streaming service.

"Both of these original DC properties we’ll be creating for HBO Max will be unlike anything seen on television,” said Berlanti. "An anthology series of cautionary tales set in a world where superpowers exist, and, in what promises to be our biggest DC show ever made, we will be going to space with a Green Lantern television series, but I can’t reveal any more about that just yet."

All additional details for Green Lantern - including which member of The Corps the show will focus on - are indeed under wraps for the time being, but we do know that Strange Adventures will feature characters from the DC Comics Universe and "explore closed-ended morality tales about the intersecting lives of mortals and superhumans."

What doi you guys think about this news? Are you glad there's a Green Lantern series in the works, or would you prefer to see the character get another shot on the big screen?

Green Lantern on HBO sounds promising

@PicolasCage - Green Lantern belongs on the big screen. The powers of the ring are supposed to be limitless depending on the user's willpower. Agents of Shield can barely afford a ghost rider for tv. Unless HBOMax invests 200+ mil in this tv show like Marvel is going to with Hawkeye, WandaVision, Loki, etc. it could turn out terrible like Netflix's Iron Fist

@mastakilla39 - Berlanti is supposedly getting a big-screen budget to make these shows. Actually, I don't care anymore if I see these in a movie theater or in my home theater since the picture quality is just as good.

I want to get excited for this but they have to prove themselves first! Hopefully this is the show to do it.

Uh Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) is like my 1A favorite superhero of all time. I don’t know how I feel about this. I mean if it has a giant budget I guess I’m super pumped. I need to know more.

Ayyy GL!!!! ...but Berlanti...

He’s fine all due respect but I wish they at least tried to go for someone new and more interesting creatively with the first big DC HBO Max show. Especially with someone as dope as GL.

I know a guy who would make a great Hal Jordan and I’m sure would love to star in a HBO Max show.

Hoping that HBO Max translates to it appearing on Sky Atlantic in the UK like the other big HBO shows.
