James Newton Howard To Begin the Score of Green Lantern In Two Weeks.

"The wheels are in motion, things are happening!"

I was probably less disappointed than you when came to the hopes of seeing the second Green Lantern trailer being released with Sucker Punch. It was just a rumour, nothing more. Too bad we all believed it. Geoff Johns even commented during this weekend's Megacon that the rumor of a second GL trailer being attached to Sucker Punch was just that, a rumor, but he said that a second trailer is coming soon. But this news is about something else than a rumour!

A man who don't need an introduction but getting one anyway, the award winning legend composer James Newton Howard, is set to begin scoring of Green Lantern sometime over the next two weeks. Stuart M. Thomas, who frequently co-produces with Howard, recently tweeted a few comments about Green Lantern:

Thomas made a couple of comments on the immensity of the score and that he the visuals "look amazing." There was a sound effects and music meeting yesterday(Saturday) morning including another proclamation that the "film is looking and sounding awesome."

He has seen a rough cut of the film and says that Kilowog looks incredible and Mark Strong's performance as Sinestro really steals the show.
Over 100 special effects houses are working on the post-production for the film. And no one connected to the film seems concerned though it's less than 90 days left.

There will probably be more information about Green Lantern in the close future, and we must not forget the strong possibilty that the second trailer will be shown at WonderCon.

So to cite Jerry Seinfeld once more: "The wheels are in motion, things are happening!"

Just a little extra: Now, I don't know if you've seen Beethoven as Green Lantern but it's from Howard's room:

whats funny everyone been saying Mark Strong's performance as Sinestro really steals the show.

but Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard hearing nothing much about them. im guessing Blake Lively performance is weak as frick then. Peter Sarsgaard might be nothing special even tho his the villian lol.

Well this has always been planned as a series, of course Hal and Sinestro are going to be the main characters. When does anyone rave about the love interest? "That Kirsten Dunst really stole the show!"

Sarsgaard always struck me as more a quiet type, like Bale in Public Enemies, they never get recognition even if they're great. Plus I'm pretty sure Hammond won't play as big a part as the villain in most of these movies, what with introducing Hal, showing his training, Parallax, Sinestro, and whatnot.

@RoscoeFolgers

so i guess by your comment these two actress wont be good then Natalie Portman and Hayley Atwell since no one rave about the love interest then.

@Xenix - You have no clue when it comes to this, do you? He is one of the most talented composers there is and works with Zimmer all the time, and he is far superior to Zimmer in my opinion.

@jazzman- Where did I say that love interests are always bad? They're just not raved about as much as a main character or a villain or elder character. I never said they were bad or untalented. They're just never given much to justify raves.

Howard has collaborated with M. Night since The Sixth Sense, hence his attachment to TLA.

Have you heard TLA score? It's brilliant. One of the best of 2010. He has countless other phenomenal scores, especially for M. Night films, despite the quality of the films themselves. He's a rare talent, and a far better composer than Zimmer.

"Still, anyone attatched to movies like TLA make me raise an eyebrow."

The guy who's doing Captain America was attached to GI Joe: Rise of Cobra and Van Helsing.

@Xenix

TLA score is good the movie done by M. Night sucks.

how comes you dont mention James Newton Howard worked on the score for Blood Diamond. that was a good movie with a great score.

@Lantern & nakatpase - I agree with you. I'd take him everyday over Zimmer.

@Xenix - I have not seen TLA but I got the composers soundtrack and I gotta say it is a pretty decent piece of musical compostition by JNH. He is an incredibly talented composer. Composers may make incredible music but the films may be terrible. That's how it is. That does not change the fact that JNH is truly one of Hollywoods best.

@InTylerWeTrust - So true.
