James Gunn Talks GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Deleted Scenes, Sequel Plans And More

Guardians of the Galaxy is one of those movies which is so damn good, you just want to see more of it when the credits roll. Luckily, it sounds as if that will be the case when the DVD and Blu-ray finally lands as writer and director James Gunn confirmed in an interview with Collider that we should expect at least 15 minutes of additional footage. Will we get an extended cut as well? That's up for debate right now, but here's hoping. Interestingly, he also reveals that many of the scenes from the trailers which didn't make the final cut were written and shot specifically for promotional purposes! Finally, talk turns to the sequel - the interview took place before the reveal at Comic-Con that a follow-up will hit in 2017 - and Gunn's thoughts on the possibility of solo spin-off's featuring the Guardians or even some of the supporting characters from this movie...

Just saw this movie. Loved it. Groot and Rocket were my favorites by far, but the others did a good job too.

I hope we see Yondu become more heroic in the sequel though.

Just got back. It wasn't the epic I expected it to be, but it was really good. I don't think I've been entertained as much as that in the theater.

the only characters i could see working in a spin off are rocket & groot.

I'd love to see Adam Warlock, Mantis, Quasar (even Bug if they get the rights back) and some original Guardians like Martinex and Starhawk.

There doesn't need to be a spinoff, at least not at this point. The characters are not strong enough to hold their own yet.

GAH! I still haven't seen it!! Going tomorrow baby!

I love how James Gunn is so into GOTG. You can tell he gave it his all through all the interviews with him. I can't wait to see that passion on the screen.

I just want him to give that same passion to Nova! haha

Yeah like the part where Drax is going crazy with green blood splattered in the air in slow motion, that was cut out

A Rocket and Groot prequel would be a very good film. Those two really stole the show for me, my wife, and our kids. Such a great movie! I just can't express how much my family and I enjoyed this film. Also, the second standing ovation for a Marvel film this year!

We also got a Big Hero 6 trailer before, where Disney added the lines: 'Inspired by the Marvel Comic Book'. (FINALLY)

Going back and watching the trailers and stuff I noticed there were quite a few shots that weren't in the movie. Interesting to see what those deleted scenes are.

Yeah, saw at midnight in reg 2D, saw today in IMAX 3D, it was WAY better in IMAX of course...I was actually really impressed with the 3D, the worlds and setting looked amazing and Gunn didn't go overboard with cheesy 3D "tricks"...I highly recommend if you can see it in IMAX, do so!

It was a good movie, better than I expected. Rocket truly stole the show with Groot showing that he is more than just a three word talking tree. The other GOTG were forgettable. If they were to ever meet the Avengers in a crossover movie, I could not see how they could be evenly matched. It seemed like Drax and Gamora were severely underpowered. But thats just IMO.

Well you have a point. Gamora is supposed to be a hot shot killing machine yet allows herself to be taken by 4 goons armed with shanks in prison for purposes of slaughter. Not buying it.
