Deadline reports that Nova is finally coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans have been clamouring for this project for years, and while Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn appears to have little interest in Richard Rider, he did introduce the concept of the Nova Corps back in 2014.
Avengers: Infinity War established that they'd been wiped out by Thanos, potentially setting the stage for Nova's introduction down the line. While the trade can't say for sure whether Nova will be a movie or TV show, reporter Justin Kroll seems confident that the project is probably heading to Disney+.
It's clearly still early days, but Moon Knight scribe Sabir Pirzada is on board to write. She's among those hired through Marvel Studios' writer's programme, and it's currently unclear whether she would be "Head Writer" on the project; however, her work on that upcoming Disney+ series has clearly impressed, and Kevin Feige obviously feels she's best suited to telling this story.
Whether it's Richard Rider or Sam Alexander beneath the helmet remains to be seen, but it's about time we get to explore the cosmos alongside Nova. The character has heaps of potential on screen, and is likely to be key in any number of future MCU projects set on Earth and beyond.
